GameStop: 2006 was big, 2007 will be bigger |
Ó
The fiscal year 2006 marked a monumental growth in sales, says American retailer GameStop, as it saw sales figures hit a high of US$ 5 billion from the US$ 3 billion of last year. The exciting news is that it'll get even bigger in 2007.The increase in sales figures was attributed to strong market performances from World of Warcraft, Xbox 360 software and the coming of the Wii and PS3 to the market. The increase is a 72 percent leap from the past fiscal cycle. US$ 2.3 billion of the total came from the last quarter alone, which is due to the holiday rush.
The fiscal year 2007 should surpass the past year due to the fact that all of the major consoles are out in the market, old game systems continue to sell well and game hardware and software are getting a little more expensive as technology advances.
GameStop CEO Richard Fontaine explained that the PlayStation 3 release in Europe, along with good Xbox 360 numbers and the release of God of War 2 and Pokemon Diamond will drive the market in the first half of the year. He also pointed out that each console and handheld has a particular niche which captures consumers whatever their playing habits are.

Dyslexia is a ***** huh?
South American, African, European, Australian, Asian, and Macronesian Island retailers say "who gives a *****" and the citizens of the majority of the world say "We sure don't, why would we give a flying pig what some American retailer thinks of their profits? Hey, what did they have for breakfast? We don't CARE about THAT either!"
Try to find some news relating to games that the world can deal with, not just "omg my neighbor just bought a PS3 he is so RICH I'm gonna buy one too cuz I wanna look rich too!"
the ds is a pice of sh** compared to the psp the ds is just selling more cuz it not as expensive as thre psp
