Game Critics Best of E3 Nominations revealed |
The 38 nominees for the Game Critics Awards for the best of E3 2006 have been revealed today. The Game Critics Awards are a symbol of gaming quality based on what was on show at this years E3 expo, and features categories such as Best of show, Best original game, Best hardware etc.
The game with the most nominations in different categories is Xbox 360 title Gears of War with 5 nominations. Gears of War was closely followed by Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, and Spore; each of which received 4 nominations. As far as publishers are concerned, Nintendo received a massive 14 nominations, with the closest competitor, EA coming second with just 11. Sony and Microsoft took up the rear on the publishing side, with both picking up third and fourth place respectively.

How was Gears of War up there so many times? It was stupid. Just another overrated, hyped-up, Halo-esque game. XBox sucks too
Gears of war and halo stupid? I'm gonna alert websters, new definition for : jealous sony fanboy...sigh microsoft games and the wii stole the show...everyone is rating sony as the dissapointment, with a few titles being the exception. go home and get over your envy.

im no fanboy but i think this list is complete garbage i do think gears of war looks mad hot but i dont think it deserves a thousand nominations and i dont see how in best hadrware you can compare an xbox headset 2 a ps3 or a racing wheel lol this ***** makes me laughits the worst list ever and i do know xbox did have more games there but the only 2 which got me were halo and gears of war besides that nuttin much really i want mgs4 gthd heavenly sword heavy rain Resistance FF13 tekken gears of war halo sper mario and super smash bros that the reason sony got ma vote because i think hteyre line up is better(my opinion) and i dont wish to pay alot for little ammount of games i like but i feel more ps3 games should be on there
Looks like the 360 won in just about every major catagory. Shows you what the media thinks of the PS3 :P Also, before some Sony fanboy comes yelling at me cuz he's a tool, check any site, even some game sites are rating Sony as the dissapointment, which is sad considering Microsoft didn't even have anything big.
What no SSBB...That game is gonna be awesome...why is it not a nominee???
Gears of War looked amazing. So did Bioshock. IGN agrees, and so do many other gaming sites. IGN also expressed severe dissapointment in Sony from E3, and everyone knows the show was Nintendo's hands down. That much is a fact. You may not like Gears of War, but you would be hard pressed to convince any gaming community that Bioshock is worthless. 360 showed some really good stuff at E3 pure and simple.
To number 7 Super Smash Bros Brawl was only shown in trailer form, the game wasn't playable. To be nominated for an E3 award, the game would have to be playable. Notice how MGS4 wasn't nominated either.
im not favoring any side ( MS, Sony, NIN, PC, etc ) these are just my honest votes~ best of show-Wii, you gotta admit, they had lots of suprises and great games, it handeled greatly and it was a joy playing wario ware smooth moves best original-LOCO ROCO, simple controls, original idea best pc game-CRYSIS, omg, have u seen the graphics! it makes me want to get windows vista right when it comes out best console game-ASSASINS CREED, it prince of persia in the next gen, amazing best handheld game-MGS PORTABLE OPS, finally a live action mgs on the go! best hardware-PS3, i played the games and was amazed at the power the system could acheive best action game-GEARS OF WAR AND RESISTENCE, too hard to decide, they both look great, plus i didnt get to play them at e3 best action adventure game-LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS- i played it on the wii and it was the game weve all been waiting for, a mature zelda best fighting game-WWE SMACKDOWN VS RAW- the graphics look great and you can do so much more than the 2006 WWE best role playing game-MASS EFFECT- this game seems interesting, not the classic medevil times type of game. best racing game-EXCITE TRUCK- a rebirth from the original excite bike, and it should be fun to play it with the wiimote best simulation game-SPORE, create your own specis and have it take over the universe, awsome! best sports game-Wii SPORTS- how bout trying your own skills instead of just pressin buttons best stratgy game-not really a fan of strategy games, so i'll let you decide this one best puzzle/trivia/parlor game-GUITAR HERO 2- you gotta play it to see how much fun it is best online multiplayer game-GEARS OF WAR- great graphics mixed with online equals hours of play time
How can Heavenly Sword be categorised as Fighting game and God of War II as Action Adventure? Shouldn't those 2 games in the same category?

i honestly didnt see how ps3's e3 conference was a disappointment.. lol im not a sony fanboy i enjoyed all 3 press confrences but sony wasnt bad at all. a matter of fact they convenced me to buy their console when it comes out. yea they looked unprepared and kinda dumb the the game they showed looked great wether playable or not i havent played 1 yet but from the looks the games look pretty hot. so do the 360 and wii but mgs4 just killed it for me i think gears of war will also be a really really good game but to say sony was a disapointment is a very fam boyism remark

This list is bull****. MGS4, was by far the best of E3, and it is nowhere to be found in the list above.

Now I'm no fanboy. In fact, the only systems I own are a PSP (which I only use for hacking) and a PC. Throughout these comments there have been numerous comments where people are 'announcing' that the Xbox 360 and Wii sucks, and their games as well without hardly backing up their theory.

First of all I hate it when people talk about how everyone else but themselves are 12 year old fanboys, thats just the type of thing that makes so many countries hate America and parts of Europe. Now I think that the wii60 idea is great, good mix of hardcore gaming and casual. I thought Gears of War looked okay and I can't wait for halo 3. I always loved zelda. I was let down a while ago when I bought a ps and watched my friends play mario cart and super smash brothers and had no way to laugh back.

I like all three system and Sony did have the weakest E3 of the three and thats not really up to debate at this point cuz it seems to be a census view of all the major gaming sites that arent straight up PS3 sites. Also, what columnist on any gaming sites thats not a PS gaming site that said GOW was dumb? just stop being an idiot already. We know everybody is entitled to their opinions, but you need to keep some sense of reality and rationale. Just because you dont like something doesnt mean it sucks, just cuz you dont acknowledge something doesnt mean it hardly showed anything, if the majority of people like something, maybe its not them, its you......
