Fox gets rights to The Sims, to bring live-action version to the big screen |
Ó
We have no idea how they're planning to do it, but 20th Century Fox looks set on bringing Electronic Arts' popular Sims franchise to the big screen. According to Variety, Fox has acquired the rights to The Sims and will be making a live-action movie based on it."The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it," said Sims Studio head Rod Humble. "Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."
Humble will be managing the creative property for Electronic Arts while Steve Asbell is overseeing the project for Fox. The script will reportedly be handled by Brian Lynch, who also penned Scary Movie 3 and the upcoming Big Helium Dog. The story is still under wraps and talents have yet to be associated with the project.

wtf
Took the words right out of my mouth. O.o
how bout a halo movie now..... huh......huh
what plot could you possibly ascribe to a game without one (sims 2 for psp notwithstanding )?
yea...
How do you turn a sandbox game about making people grow up, make friends and work hard, all controlled by some omnipotent female (generalising here) into a film?
Sounds a bit like 'Stranger than Fiction' with Emma Thomson and Will Ferrell except without the interaction.
...speak in simlish, or else they will not get a cent from me
what's next? sim city? tetris? bejeweled?
sim city could have potential... with the giant robot creatures and natural disasters that are a common every day occurrence... so like day after tomorrow... plus robot aliens.
is it gon b like the brady bunch?
Gonna be like Super Mario Bros. The previous worst video game movie ever. Now here's the best idea for a video game movie:
PONG!!!!

The games that some people want to make movies out of. There are so many games worth a remake before drivel like this. Even though I wouldn't be interested in Halo it deserves a good movie but this. No offence to The Sims but how do you make a movie out of a plotless game as an abbove message mentioned?
As far as I'm concerned Uwe Boll can have this license.
