Konnichiwa! It's 2007 ladies and gentlemen, and for the people in the Land of the Rising Sun, New Year has been a quite a spending spree. As Media-Create noted, the DSL and Wii sales figures constitute for almost 70% of the market sales. As they have conveniently jotted down:
  • DSL -  344,878
  • Wii - 195,331
  • PSP - 118,186
  • PS3 - 69,944
  • PS2 - 52,037
  • Xbox360 - 18,235
As usual, we can see that Nintendo is continuing to ride the waves of success even in its native country, with the DS Lite still maintaining its popularity. So, under the basis of this old belief that the beginning of the year will pretty much signify the trend for the rest of the year, is it possible that 2007 will be Nintendo's year? Or will the PSP or the PS3 bounce back to the top once other PS3 titles are released later this year?

Xbox360 is still selling better then it did last year. Its amazing what one game (Blue dragon) can do for it over there.

no YOU STFU Sony grillstation cow.

The fact is 360 was selling like 2-3k units a week last year. and now more then 18k units sell after the holidays... due to Blue Dragon. So NOPE to your damn self, because i NEVER said Xbox would be fully "accepted" in Japan, fanboys are so stupid.

» it is amazing

it is amazing but if you look at the reasons it is selling it all make sense, anyway about 300,000 people own a 360 in japan in the first year, the first xbox has not cracked 500,000 after 4 years, since blue dragons release about 1 month ago 360 sold about 80,000 so that means 200,000 people bought 360 before blue dragon which is still good for 360 comparing it to first xbox, and as for accepting the system what number does 360 have to reach to be considered accepted 1 million or does 360 have to be number 1 or number 2 in japan eric, and man you do sound scared.

Would you just please grow up and stop. The x360 is selling in Japan. Not very well, but at least better than last year. That's a good thing for the gaming community. No need to friggin call people names, when you disagree on something. Japan isn't magically going to turn into an Microsoftland, so rest assured on your lonely throne of console hatred. Sony will prevail. Let the rest of us Playstation owners enjoy our console without you ruining our reputation. And let also the Wii and Xbox owners enjoy theirs. Mkay? Now shake hands and go play something.

» yep

omg! one country in the entire world refuses to buy 360, it must be a failure! lol, noob...

the funny thing is that there's ps3s in my local store right now that no one wants, yet the Wii has been very hard to find, and the 360s are also selling quite nicely even for a year old console. Everyone knows the real loser of this war is Sony, so just stop being such a tool already.

» it's funny

how most 360 fans will say that Japan numbers don't matter. They only say that becuase Japan doesn't buy 100k 360 each week. Ah well 10 million isn't a lead anyways after a year

» Actually...

...there's a difference between fans and fanboys. Learn to distinguish between the two. ;)

theres over 10 million Xbox 360's sold worldwide...

I couldn't give a flying piece of crap about the Japanese, i don't live in Japan fool, I live in America, thats what I care about...and in the USA the 360 reigns supreme...

Theres PS3's EVERYWHERE you look now days, I went to wal-mart yesterday (picked up Lost Planet), and there were 4 PS3's in the electronics section....

by Mr. Common Sense - 2007-01-16 09:38
» the numbers matter because it's an improvment

Maybe all the people with PS2s were waiting for a PS3, only to find out it's overhyped junk. Myself included! It's still a hot item and is selling well. The 360 will get closer to the PS3's sales once the hype wears off.

» Exactly Why Microsoft will Lose...

They Have a Racist Way Of thinking Like Yoo Do..

They Only Make Games for What they Think Suits America..and are loosing Worldwide..

But Ofcourse not all Americans are Lame as you are... ;)

by Mr. Common Sense - 2007-01-17 01:01
» losing worldwide HA!

MS losing worldwide? Isn't Japan the only place they have a chance of success? There wasn't much localized content in the last year, but Blue Dragon changed that and really boosted the sales. I agree with Shini in that Japanese sales don't matter here, it just means more Japanese style games for the PS3. The european launch is coming, and from what I hear they're less than impressed with sony lately.
