Uh-oh! I hope our friends from Left4Friends didn't catch this. PAX sources are now reporting that they do have a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus (commonly but misleadingly known as Swine Flu) from their recently-concluded Washington event.

The official PAX twitter says as much:

Just heard of our first test-confirmed swine flu case at the show. PLEASE if you feel symptoms (fever, etc) go to the doctor.

But I was invited!

Said Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo, "This is the real thing. If you get this number of people together in this close a proximity it is the perfect storm for these kind of wild fire virus spreads. We just want to make sure everyone is informed."

The reported case of the virus was revealed by Kho to be on a Boston-based game developer, confirmed by contacting the virus with a doctor. He then immediately contacted PAX to inform the officials of is infection.

If you were in the event, please make sure to be alert as to the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. That's 60,000-plus estimated attendees. You can't be too careful in that kind of crowd.

» This flu is a joke

Once you recover, that's it.

The chance of it mutating into something menacing is literally on par with you winning the lottery.

This can easily be fixed by running into the Swine Flu headquarters and then Rambo-style shoot up the place.

That'll teach those bastards for giving me a mild cold.

» yep

a list of flights and trains that carried confirmed cases is available on the penny arcade main page. then anyone who went probably already knows this...

the strain came from pigs... saying swine flu is misleading is like saying fossil fuels is misleading.

» the thing is..

this stupid flu hits sissies, and given that broken nails mean a major problem for them, they tend to die easily with a simple mild cold...

some other sissy going rambo might giver others a heart attack in excitement -- or disappointment for not having seen that in their friend before! >:D

» ..

Its just a cold, the only people it really affects are weak (through other illness, poor health etc)

I live in an area thats had loads of cases (and a death or two)

my gf had it (I live with her)

the only thing it gave me was a chance to practice my acting skills to get out of going to a wedding.

it was a success.

» a joke it is

Regular flu has already killed more than 500k globally, as it does every year. I guess this swine flu gets all the attention because it's killed more young people than old which is unusual, but it's still being taken way overboard.

Something I think is way worse is that scientists have recreated the flu strain that killed 50-100 million in 1918. There's no telling what terrorist groups could do with that in the undeveloped world

Also this gets my vote for weirdest use of porky pig

» LOL

@joemontana "This flu hits sisses"

Made me laugh out loud cuz its true. Swine flu is a joke, its killing off the weak and even then its a rare thing. We need a flu to hit that'll wipe out everyone with AIDS then there'd be no more AIDS and you could party like it was 1479.

» PAX had such great people.

I forgot there ARE gamers who are selfish jerks. Its not about what it will do to you. If your in good health then yes, its little more than a nasty cold. But what if you decide 'screw it, ill just power through and go on with my day' knowing you have it? As one person already stated, it causes death in younger people more often than old, so Congratulations ! you have now potentially transmited it to someone, or directly to a child who's system cant handle it and will suffer permenant brain damage or die. Good job.

Please, think of someone other than yourself for 10 seconds before you make a post.
