First Rock Band: Unplugged details |
Ó

Now that the cat's out of the bag, here are a few details regarding Electronic Arts and MTV Games' Rock Band: Unplugged for the PlayStation Portable. Oh, and before anything else, the image up top isn't an actual screenshot, alright?
Anyway, the usual Rock Band gameplay will still be implemented in Unplugged. All input will be handled by the Left, Up, Triangle, and Circle buttons, so there's no need for a special controller attachment. The L and R shoulder buttons are used to switch between guitar, drums, bass, and vocals. No actual singing, mind you, just button pressing.
During actual gameplay, song tracks will be broken down into phrases. You get a multiplier when you play a phrase perfectly, and while you can switch between instruments at any time, switching at the right moment will let you keep your multiplier boost. Overdrive is also included. Multiplayer's a no-go though.
The game will ship with tracks from AFI, Blink 182, Boston, Kansas, Lit, and The Police. Hey, 3 good bands out of 6 ain't bad. DLC will also be available via the in-game store and PSN. Definitely looking forward to this.
Rock Band: Unplugged is currently expected to be out by the end of the year based on how far developer Backbone Entertainment has gotten into the game's development process. Stay tuned for more updates.

i know an accessorie would make the game less portable as you will...but i think the controls will feel to forced... plus the accessory would also stop pirates in their tracks.. i think if there was a guitar attatchment there would be more sales...
It's basically just DJ Max Portable with American tracks? Not that there's much you can do, but I like that game. Maybe I'll like this one.
Which bands did you count as good? XD
This gameplay system seems an awful lot like Frequency and Amplitude (harmonix's pre-guitar hero series). Also I agree with you roaddog, there should be some sort of guitar attachment
The ones with members older than my dad. XD
I'm on the fence when it comes to an attachment, mainly because it's going to cost extra. My gaming budget's already starting to stretch pretty thin and the year's barely started! >.
So... basically its gonna play like Amplitude or Frequency?.
thats exactly what it is since harmonix were the ones that made all of these games
They should put it as optional and add singing to it. The most obvious thing I thought you would be able to do is sing. New PSPs have a mic. Slim PSPs can use a microphone plugin such as the Skype headset. Phat PSPs might be also able to use a microphone plugin but I'm not so sure on that since I have never heard of a Phat PSP using a mic plugin.
Atleast you won't hear someone singing out of tune, with mumbling words and horrible voices on the train singing to rock band on a mic. But also works the opposite way since someone might actually be able to sing but won't because Rock Band don't have vocal gameplay.
GuitarStar, anyone?? :)
For a brand that advertises itself as a great get together game. Its surprising that they would hash out the "band" aspect.
Boston, Kansas and the Police... Decent bands
This is the best news I've heard all day. Anyone care to play if you have 360?
singing game without the singing is fairly odd.. mayb due to the incompatibiliti es with the older version of psp... or probably the psp could not perform the FFT fast enough?
I agree on this. why not multiplayer?!?!? it would be great to have your friends saying "wish i had an Xbox or PS3 so we can all play Rock Band. We just have a PSP." then thats when the PSP comes into place and 1 kid is like "HEY why dont we go get Rock Band for the PSP!?!?!" and every cheers up and are screaming "YEAAAAAAAH!!!!! lets rock out" lmao. i really think they are making a BIG mistake not putting multiplayer.
I'm on the same boat as this. No multiplayer? Man that sucks. T_T Would have sooooo wanted to rock out with some friends on-the-go...
that would be cool if they made a bunch of little instraments that could disassemble and fit in your pocket. Then make a strap for the psp so you could strap it to something like the car seat. lol to rocking out on a 10 inch guitar and mini drums.
Just go get yourself the Guitarway to Heaven homebrew. You'll have your own tracks and your own difficulties with your own graphics. 6 bands is weak, esp with AFI and Blink182 on the listing. Just another reason Guitar Hero was always best at track listings.
