Mega Man 1 - Image 1

How many Mega Man titles have we seen in two decades? I'm not even sure anymore. But no matter how many titles Capcom adds to the franchise, you still gotta know your Mega Man history. For that, Capcom is paying tribute to the one that started it all - the very first Mega Man from 1987 is coming to 2009 as a downloadable on PSN.

The first Mega Man will come to the Japanese PSN as a re-release of Rockman: Perfect Works, the enhanced port of Rockman 1 from the PSOne era. Yep, it's Rock, not Mega. All the same, the non-sliding, non-charging, non-upgrading Mega Man (or should I say Rockman) will be providing young gamers with a touch of Gaming 101.

Rockman: Perfect Works will hit the Japanese PSN as a downloadable PSP and PS3 game on August 12th, and will be yours for ¥ 600 (US$ 6.50). There's no word on release in other territories, though.

This one should definitely materialize into a game:

Is it going to be the original original or the remake for PSP?

This is the original remake for the PS1 that only came out in Japan and the one that is on the Anniversary collection. Search up Rockman Complete Works and you can see what they are all about.

Surprised Capcom haven't already just used the MM9 engine to release all the previous Mega Man games onto all three consoles shops for some quick easy money. Just seems like something they would do. I'd happily pay for Mega Man 2 though.
