Bumblebee - Image 1

It looks like Activision is really building up the hype over Transformers: The Game. They have released one (yes, one) screen of the movie tie-in. We don't usually cover single-screened updates but such is the anticipation for this 80s icon that we can't possibly ignore the teeniest bit of news about it (that or we're just goaded by the voice of ultimate Transformers geekdom).

The movie will hit the silver screen this July, though there hasn't been any announcements regarding the game's release. Check out the solitary screen, can you tell which Autobot it is? (insert Jeopardy theme here.) It's Bumblebee. Remember that VW Bug? Yeah, that Volkswagen Beetle. He's been upgraded into a Chevrolet Camaro in the live action movie.

Activision hints on more Transformers: The Movie info and possibly a proper unveiling. Stay tuned.

» Why Would They Do That?

Why would they make him a Camaro when he is supposed to be a VW Beetle, hence the name Bumblebee. I know it's a new generation and all but I think it would have been great at first to keep them the way they were and then either for this movie, or a sequel, have something take place that would make them have to take a different form of things of todays time.

Thanks for spotting that mistake. We've changed it to July.

The reason why he's not a VW Beetle anymore is because VW does not want their vehicles involved in any type of violence. At least thats what they said. Chevy dosn't care so they used the old and new camaro.

He's the only one who really changes everyone else is pretty much the same vehicle or very close to.

And the screen looks awesome.

» Do not post pictures of games on other systems

I think it would be useful if you did not post screenshots of the game on OTHER systems on the DS blog. It is confusing and annoying.

» Wtf

Why do articles about games that are doomed to fail (Transformers, TMNT game) get so many comments on QJ? When games that actually look like they'll be decent (The Darkness) get none? Is it just because these are big-time franchises that people grew up with? Look, I loved Transformers and TMNT, but I'm not about to waste my money on some craptastic game when I could spend it on Bioshock or The Darkness instead.

I can kind of understand the amount of comments for the Transformers game, since it actually looks like it *might* not fail completely, but the TMNT game looks like crap on a stick made of petrified crap, I can't see how anyone is excited about it.

Just my $0.02, hope I didn't offend any of the Transformers/TMNT fanatics out there.
