Final Fantasy (I?) Anniversary Edition preorders hit past 100,000 |
Ó
If you're wondering how well the fourth remake of a game released a little over 20 years ago will do... well, at least Square Enix can bank on selling north of one hundred thousand copies of Final Fantasy: 20th Anniversary Edition UMDs to the Japanese gaming public. According to Square Insider, that's how many copies of the PSP remake of the GBA remake of the PSOne remake of the WonderSwan remake of the NES games (what a dev history...) have been preordered.
We couldn't tell if the figures refer to the preorder for only the FF remake, or both FF I & II remakes, but given the differing release dates, we'll presume it's only FFI. And if you're wondering why we used the compilation covers above, well... photoshopping eight boxarts, plus the compilation covers, is a bee-yotch.
Seems the remake is doing quite well, thank you very much, even before its release date. As a point of comparison, Square Insider notes that Squeenix would be happy to see 150,000 copies of the remake fly off Japanese shelves. Maybe it's having the content of both the PSOne and GBA compilation/remakes, plus PSP high-res graphics and that bonus dungeon.
Next question: how many of those preorders came from North America?

Wow. You're a *****ing genius. Its using NEW graphics. So its not a remake of a remake. Its a remake of the original FF game.
http://boards2.sega.com/sega_board/viewtopic.php?t=69652 "well the made the 2-d sprites better for PSP, has the dungeon from the advance version, is in widescreen and has a gallery mode. Porting these cassics was a good idea the first 3 times they did it." "Damn.....for a second there I though I saw FF10.... Is it too much to ask for console grade games on PSP?" and "Yeah, really. I thought that thing was supposed to bring the console experience to the palms or your hands. They should at least be remaking the PS1 FFs."
its all about ffta 2: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/party07/titles/ffta2/
It's a remake of a remake. The original had a completely different magic system. The magic system this one is based off of is from a remake. The GBA version's dungeon(s?) is also supposed do be in this. The GBA Dawn of Souls version is also based off of a remake. Essentially, this is a remake of a remake of a remake. Sadly, the "new" magic system makes the entire game easy. It's not nearly as fun as the original.
fft>>>>ffta ffta was the gayest ***** ever made... well... it was for a nintendo system, that explains it all...

Hopefully this can rival with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl which have sold one hell of a lot in Japan and then with Crisis Core and FF Tactics: The Lion War we can kick those ugly 2nd grader monsters up the ass!!!
You're a little off. It's not the fourth, it's the sixth. Not including the cell phone versions, you're missing the MSX version and the Wonderswan Color version. The PSX and GBA versions were both based off of the Wonderswan Color version, graphics and everything.
It's only the fifth. It seems you're considering I+II on the Famicom as a remake when, in fact, it is just a compilation.
What I don't get is that they're wasting a whole UMD for 2 games which probably take up less then 10megabytes. They should of at least put FFI to FFVI and put extras on then. Then that might fill up a UMD if they all included the FMV scenes and stuff.
