FFXI, represent: Dissidia gets first non-main character confirmed |
Ó

And you thought that the character roster for Dissidia was over? Ha! Not by a long shot, if you consider the non-main characters! The hero and villain rosters may be complete for those coming from FF to FFX. Today, the question of whether we'll be seeing other icons from other FF games is answered. First up: Final Fantasy XI represent! Handheld brawlers-in-waiting, I introduce to you: Shantotto!
The new character to be included in Dissidia: Final Fantasy was actually confirmed during Square Enix's FFXI Fan Festival in Japan today. Apparently, the event's organizers and hosts were excited enough to bring some PSP news to the MMO crowd in front of them.
Chances are, your same expression of "Huh? Who the hell's Shantotto?" was reflected in the MMO gamers' faces with "Huh? What the hell's Dissidia?" Either way, there you have it. Because not all PSP fans are MMO gamers (myself included), here are some facts you should know about Shantotto:
- She's a renowned(?) black mage in Vana'diel
- She's 2-feet tall
- She's both considered a hero and villain
- She's got a signature evil laugh, ho ho ho ho!
Other interesting trivia: the actress voicing Shantotto in Dissidia (obviously, the Japanese version) will be Magumi Hayashibara. If you're an otaku, you'll probably remember her as the one who voiced Rei Ayanami in Evangelion and Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop.

Now that we're getting secret characters, characters I hope will make an apperance are Edgar, Mog, Shadow, Kain, Cid(FF7 version,) Vincent, Seifer, and Balthier(I hate FF12, but Balthier is awesome.
Even though those are the ones I want to see most, I'd also like to see all the main characters from FF4-10 and FF10-2(FF10-2 also listed because of Paine.)
The rest of the FF1 class change characters. It's unfortunate that the Knight isn't closer represented as his NES version version, however, I'd also like to see the Ninja, Grand Master, Red Wizard, and, not class change, but the original Black Mage class, later keeping the same look and being labeled as a Black Wizard.
I'd cream myself if they threw in a cameo from that monstrosity.
cream...
I have hope that the FFXII char will be Balthier with judge armor
OMG YES!!!!!! Now Zack Fair has a chance!!!!!!!!
Not sure why Zack would have a chance to get in the game because of a FFXI character beeing announced. If say 3 FFXI characters where announced then surely Zack might also join, but so far only 1 FFXI character has been revield. I am curious who the villian (or hero lol) will be from FFXI.
i really hope Zack joins. they gotta make a lot of secret characters
I agree I like Zack alot more then Cloud as well. But if the weren't to add Cloud as the hero they'd get more hate mail then fan mail lol.
OMG... I'm not usually much of a fanboy but... Shantoto!? =o.o=
From the time I played a newbie Tarutaru healer/cook in FFXI, Shantoto always was the terror of my natal Windurst.
She usually asigned us 'tarus/mithras with the scariest of jobs and she made me go into a long trip/exile to Sand'Oria... =-.-;= One of the legends I heard about her was that the first words she said as a baby set her village on fire... literally. =o.o;=
In other words: AWESOME! XD I am SO preordering that game now! XD
Heeey, Sand'Oria aint so bad! I live there. I'm a hume ^^ Lakshmi server, look me up lol.
I'd cream myslef if they threw in balthier with judge armor.
monstrosity....
for her infamous Warp II scroll quest. Apart from that, meh.
I really hope that she doesn't end up being a joke character. Really, in general I hope that this game ends up being pretty balanced.
