Fanbased movie: Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy |
Ó
Okay, maybe this is the Metal Gear movie we're actually waiting for. Maybe. There's a fanmovie based on the Metal Gear franchise up and about on the Internet right now. It's called "Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy", described to be as such:
A movie inspired by Hideo Kojima's videogame series "Metal Gear Solid." It is not a Hollywood-style production, better a fan movie made out of the passion of some fans, non profit and no budget: it will be released on the Net for free during 2009.
Well, we've been complaining a whole lot about how Hollywood remakes ruin great franchises. Let's see how this one pans out, eh? If you want to check it out, you may do so by heading to the source link below.
Unfortunately, though, as of our most recent visit to the site, they're having technical difficulties, hence making the site inaccessible. The downloadable files are being mirrored to other sites, though, so you might wanna give it a shot.
I smell a Rotten Tomatoes review coming up soon!

i repeat did they finish it, or do they have another trailer?
finish it...kind of
this is part one, idk how many parts they plan on making...but its quite impressive
but sadly, the acting is bad and i couldnt get close to being attached to any of the characters
basically this thing is all nice and fancy, but it lacks passion....
..I started out skeptical, but treated it as if it were a rough draft. If you view it that way, you could actually see at times how it could work. I do like the Pierre character, I have to say, but as a whole, the writing was solid (pardon the pun) in spots, but very uneven in others. There'd also be time when I'd go "Snake's voice was REALLY spot on that time." Honestly, it's still quite uneven, but I can see where they want to take it, and I say I'd give it a chance.
nice nice work , hope just they add some filters like horisontal scan line and noise to give that cybernitic feels but the ambiant light is perfect
pierre is a pretty cool cat...but the chick....she's as emotionless as an autistic rock...(no offense to the autistic peeps)
ohh and the Undertaker-esque fellow riding that damn metal gear? WTF?
and i noticed the metal gear pwned everyone via the gun, but when it came to snake, it only attemted to shoot at snake one....then it just all of a sudden tried to crush snake.......
but meh, you've got to start out somewhere right? I know, im too damn picky, but its still impressive
and entertaining.

You are so right!! Hey but that's not the way Spy movies are? You can just kill the main character, give him about 50 more movies to go. - Hence Austin Powers-
The actors are OK - remember is a fanbased movie not a Hollywood film - CG is good and not cheesy. When it comes to Snake's voice, he is not doing a bad job either. Some times he is right on spot, other times he waay off - a little more practice but overall is very good.
And Yes vizard00 - I think they should added scan lines to make more cinematic. I'm pretty sure they do a better job on the sequel.
Overall the movie is great - and I got a kick at the end - jeeeezzz! LOOOOL - " You look so cool with your cigar and your bandana" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOL
Well, in my opinion it was very good for a fan-made movie but they did have problems.
Like for instance the transitioning from scene to scene was just too bland and it went to daylight to darkness at a point.
Also that in some parts you could tell very well that it was computerized and that kinda put me down cause its supposed to look real but this ain't hollywood so it ain't much of a big deal
Plus the voice acting was very real but with snake I feel like they didn't nail the voice but it was good enough to still keep up with his emotions
The other characters were okay but I feel that they gave Pierre the most emotion and he was the character that was most alive in the story and I feel that they should have gave that "alive" feeling to snake since he is the main character.
Anyways, besides that this movie was very well done and I look forward to the next part.
Oh and LOL big time @ "you would be a very bad a$$ video-game character....a nintendo platformer"...now only if I could write this much in my honors English class

For a no budget, non profit fan made movie, I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this movie.
And for anyone who didn't watch after the credits, GO DO IT NOW!! Funniest thing I've seen all day.
"Ahh...wha...what is this?"
"That's porn."
"w-wha? What...i-it's...porn?"
"That's poorrrrn!"

Good movie, you're the first Negative person I've come across in regards to this movie, funny how everyone but you has praised and given great comments towards the movie.
Watch the movie at least, it's a great movie worthy of the name "Metal Gear Solid".
You're just unworthy, end of.
