Yeah, it seems a bit impossible at first glance, but apparently Kuta's been trying to get this project off the ground for several years now. According to him, there was even a solid deal with Universal at one point. That deal fell through, but he soldiered on and, with his own money, managed to release this trailer:
Kuta plans to release the film sometime in 2011 for free, just in time for Sonic's 20th anniversary. The project is still at the storyboarding stage, so there's still a lot of work to be done. They already have an animation studio lined up, though. Still, all that might never even come to pass if Sega decides to do a Square Enix and starts sending out the C&Ds.

this looks quite impressive, and seeing as this is going to be about the old school sonic show.....brings back such nostalgic memories...
ambitious.
I'm quite interested in the voice acting (if any) and its story. It's fan-made and it had an opportunity at Universal, so i'm sure they won't pull a Crash Bandicoot on it
SEGA just doesn't have the heart anymore.
Sonic Team has fallen, I'm looking forward to this, and the Mega Man Fan Film, and the Zelda - Hero of Time Fan film.
