Dragon Quest IX still on top - Image 1Taking Famitsu's Weekly Most Wanted List at face value, we can see that gamers from Japan are difficult to woo. Trusty Bell ended at the 19th spot last week, but sales figures show that this unique RPG for Xbox 360 skyrocketed to being the 2nd most selling game in Media Create's weekly software sales list.

With that out of the way, and Last Remnant dropping from the last spot, Itagaki Street DS and Halo 3 have returned to take 19th and 20th spots respectively. After Trusty Bell experienced a smashing success, and Lost Odyssey not giving up its place, it won't be surprising to see more Japanese gamers embracing the box.

Top titles are staying strong as usual. The biggest RPG franchises that dominate Japan - Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XII under Square Enix' belt are safe at 1st and 2nd place, with DQ IX having almost a thousand vote lead against 3rd placer Biohazard 5.

Can't wait? Here's the list:
  1. Dragon Quest IX (DS, Square Enix)
  2. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Square Enix)
  3. Biohazard 5 (PS3, Capcom
  4. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3, Konami)
  5. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3, Capcom)
  6. Super Robot Taisen: Original Generations (PS2, Banpresto)
  7. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii, Square Enix)

Looks like Halo 3 got skimped out by just about everyone else. PS3 holds the majority on the list, followed by the always strong DS.

Sweet.

» Sony Wins!

Sony 10 games.

nintendo 8 games.

x360 2 games. (LMAO! not surprising though).

Sony Wins!

Who cares if sony is on top if nobody has the system to play the games. Currently in sales it's 360 > Wii > PS3. Soon to be Wii > 360 > PS3.

» sorry dude you are not God

anyways why is QJ always reporting this stuff and putting a false title on it?

why not just say "halo 3 barely made it to japan's most wanted game!". lets accept it folks, FPS shooters specially on xbox 360's are simply unwanted here in japan, this is the land where mario, link, final fantasy and cute monsters are the most favorite.

Japan has a very strict gaming law on everything specially on game violence.

about Rockstar games, we are not concerned because Capcom publishes Rockstar's games here, tones down anything inappropriate to suit the Japanese people/law/culture. therefore worry free parents.

to gaijin ps3 haters, you can say bad things about ps3 but you cannot deny the fact that there is big community of ps3 supporters and AAA games are coming, and Sony will not let MS monopolize the gaming market. there will always be a profitable market for sony and nintendo here in japan.

» Weekly Famitsu News which is full of lies

I live in Japan. And I read Weekly Famitsu News and am angry very much. For Hamamura that it is the chief editor of this magazine. This company (Enter Brain) gets bribe with him considerably for some time from a certain company and evaluates the lie. And it still continues.

The company is Sony. It is a thing by dull quality control of Sony to have let all the Japanese game industries be out of order.

You must not believe Weekly Famitsu, everybody. There is the root of all various crimes to this magazine.

» um the title is a little weird

why bother mentioning the game at the bottom of the list in the title of the article. seems a little stupid. if anything it should be good news for the ps3 that has most of the titles. and about people not having a ps3. tons of people have it, its only been out since november, its way more expensive than the other consoles which is the only thing holding sales back. when the price drops people will flock for it.

i doubt halo 3 will be too much different than the last 2. maybe a few new guns a slightly different story to save the universe and some new car to move around it. if M$ wasnt so money hungry they would just create updates for the game instead of charging you for a new one. but im sure we will see halo 4 very soon.

» Halo 3 last?

It doesn't matter, Halo 3 will sell more copies than all the others put together! Guaranteed!!!
