Persona 3 is coming to the PSP. Yes, that's for real. No other source can be surer than Famitsu themselves. In full glory in their latest issue, the magazine reports that Atlus will be porting the PS2 version of Persona 3 to your favorite handheld.

The said port will reportedly carry an all new female main character. No idea though on whether she will be the lone new character, or if this means you can pick alternately between her and the male character, but we're confident news on that will come out soon enough.

Here, check out this scan:

We still don't know if a non-Japanese release is going to happen which I hope it does.

great news

if the female lead character is true, it's a welcome addition. i hope it comes as an option, though. usually (in persona 3 or persona 4) you could develop romantic relationships with girls. now you will be able to do it from a female perspective (maybe atlus realized that there are a lot of female gamers nowadays?). i hope p4 also gets a remake. and also with an optional female lead.

It'll get a US release

Atlus has been whoring themselves out when it comes to game releases. Persona is fairly big in the United States since P3 anyways. It was the game that got people interested in the series(the majority of people.) Nocturne was fairly rare and people wanted it, but that came more apparent after the release of P3 when a flood of new fans due to the controversy about the characters shooting themselves in the head with a gun. Since then Atlus reprinted Nocturne which in turn lowered its rarity value as it's already been reprinted once(thank you *****s.) You can guarantee an Atlus game will now make a release in the US. You can also guarantee that never will an Atlus title remain rare any longer. Games pre PS2 are going to be. Atleast aside from Stella Deus for PS2 which is rare and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment which was already reprinted and then reprinted again after the release of P3 to commemorate the release of P4. If you're interested in knowing, it's bull***** they make no difference to the game being a rerelease or original release. Way to ***** the rarity and price of a fifth generation game because your series has started to get a larger fanbase because you're still releasing sixth generation games in the seventh generation.

Damn

They skipped Persona 2? It's probably because they didn't want to port Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. It would have been better though to finally localize Innocent Sin in the states.

shut up

waahh, I can't sell my game for a profit. I say thank you to atlus for making games for people who like to play games and not keep them sealed to resell to someone who'll actually play it at an insane price. You wanna make a profit? get a job, and they do make first run exclusives for the collectors. Nocturne had a soundtrack, digital devil saga came with a bunch of junk, psp persona has a soundtrack, devil summoner 2 had a plushy, etc.

You can already play P2 games

You can play them on your PSP, I'm about to finish Innocent Sin. Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment were released on PS1, you can play them with Popsloader perfectly. I recommend to play Innocent Sin first ( make sure to get the English translation patch for Innocent Sin, It never came to the US), since is the pre-sequel of Eternal Punishment. I never played P3( I don't have PS2) I'll be buying it the first day : )
