Famitsu hardware sales for August 31 - September 6: PS3 reigns supreme |

Famitsu's estimates on the latest hardware sales figures from Japan puts the previously down-trodden PlayStation 3 Sony console to a nicer spot at the top. That's much nicer.
Meanwhile, Media Create is expected to release their own results for the week of August 31 through September 6th tomorrow, so watch out for that. In the meantime, here are Famitsu's numbers:
- PS3 - 151,000
- DSi - 59,000
- PSP - 23,000
- Wii - 18,000
- DS Lite - 5,600
- Xbox 360 - 4,600
- PS2 - 3,700

anyone that didn't expect this is a moron...
You do know the sales figure are from Japan right? 4.6k consoles sold is normal for the 360 in Japan. Although 150k units sold is pretty impressive, I wonder how long would that last lol.
not numbers like this is amazing but rollypoly did expect it cause he works for sony.
a#sshole as long as it is $299 they will sell and there are the numbers.They will sell as quick as you have to send your 360 to fix.
It won't last idiot, Its a "new" console and expect it to drop after the next few months. Also is that all you have against the 360? RROD? Its getting old dude. I have never had any problems yet on my 360 and I already asked sony to repair my ps3(fan was making rattling sound).
Now that's a lot of ps3 phats or slims that they sold. And plus the PS3 either phat or Slim will last for a VERY VERY LONG TIME since Sony makes their products to last a long time and have excellent hardware put in. And that's the truth!!
So come a few weeks when the numbers have stabilised (you guys are treating a price drop as if its a New Thing™) and everything is back to normal... That will be "much nicer".
Brought one of the original Xbox 360s, Didn't even start, had RRoD. Replacement I had to send in cause it kept freezing, I'd say it was a near RRoD failure as I think it had something to do withthe graphics card cause it froze in every game.
Now, just brought a PS3 Slim yesterday, only thing I have to complain about is that it doesn't come with a HDMI cable..kind of annoying considering I just brought a Sony Bravia LCD. Also I thought the FW V3.00 update was quite slow compared to the download speeds I get from Microsoft updates.
Overall, I guess you get what you pay for when you get Xbox Live but the Xbox hardware is junk compared to the PS3. Although I'm still extremely disappointed I have to fork out some more money for a HDMI cable when it's also a Blu-Ray player aswell.

Can't say that for sony tvs, cameras, and laptops...
It's not really a "new" console. It's the same PS3 just smaller.
I love how the PS2 only sold 900 less then the 360...greatest console of all time.
obviously it's not a new console but it is a new model and new price point which is why there is a big spike in sales. Of course the PS3 will sell better than it has been, how could it not. It still has a lot of catching up to do. I'll get one eventually, I'm happy with my 360 for now though.
its because ps3 slim doesnt have BC. so people who want to play ps2 games have to buy a ps2 also.
They still only sold 900 more 360's in a week then PS2's.
...sucks a lot. The 360 has good compatibility with the old box, at least.
Sony makes by far the best TVs on the market
Every Xbox game lags like mad on 360. It ALMOST makes Halo 1 actually not fun to play. Only almost tho. And both KOTORS are almost unplayable in some areas
