# That's the most dumbass game of the year I've readkupomogli 2009-04-24 16:10
Everyone knows that Famitsu is the most paid off gaming journalist magazine/site ever and this list proves it by far.

I'll agree that some of these games are good, but you can guarantee that alot of the prizes are listed up there as some sortof payoff because the majority of gamers will look at a magazine and buy whatever are said to be "the best."

I mean seriously. What is the difference between "all generation prize" and "game of the year." Rookie title prize? Let's just list a Square game that sucks balls on here on this list to garnish more sales so we can fill our pockets with more payoffs. Racing Prize to Mario Kart Wii? I know far more titles that are played on both the PS3 and 360 as multiconsole(Bu rnout Paradise and Midnight Club LA maybe?) Multiplayer to SSBB(have these people tried to play online with other people when your friends happen to be offline? You'll be waiting 5-10 minutes for a match.) Character action prize? Dissidia is an amazing game I'll admit, but what the *****? I'd be surprised if they didn't throw a "random game prize" and throw something highly overrated.

***** Famitsu. That's one company I won't ever trust as a legitimate review source.

There is nothing I can really even say to you. You hate Famitsu? Too bad! They are recognized as a good source for video game news from the Asian market, you are not. You don't agree with their choices, I think over all, their choices and categories are better then most. Not everyone in the world has to agree.

oh gosh... dude whats wrong with you? alll those games are well listed and well deserved. as for monster hunter 2 g winning game of the year. its outstanding! that game is an amazing game thats totally underrated here in the stateside. every game on that list did something great to catch a strong audience. as for racing... i mean seriously dude? ur comparing it to midnight club and burnout? fail.. ssbb... why would u buy that game to play online in the first place. besides its not best online multiplayer... -_- you just have a different taste of games and thats all. and thats fine. i guess everyone can stand by their own opinion as i stand by my own. and this list is perfect.

Burnout Paradise beats the hell out of Mario Kart Wii and pretty much any racing game in history and it just keeps improving with every addon/DLC Criterion provide.

And even as a PSP owner I can't say Monster Hunter's that good but the japanese love all that role playing stuff eh. All the games in the last year and they give the award to that? That country is obsessed with that game. Still, if it keeps selling more PSPs I shouldn't complain.

And Wii Music...innovation? It's amazing how crap can be called innovative. My cousin asked for Guitar Hero for christmas but got that cos the idiots in his local game store told his parents it's just the same only with more 'instruments'... which all happen to be the Wiimote...

Can't say I've ever been fond of Famitsu but I guess it's perhaps a cultural difference in gaming tastes. I've certainly been enjoying a lot more western produced games as I've got older.

The only game that could beat Mario Kart Wii in Japan would probably be Gran Turismo 5 (not prologue). :P The reason Monster Hunter 2 is such a hit is because it requires you work TOGETHER. In America we generally want to beat EACHOTHER. Hate to generalize, but it's mostly true, I think because the general idea of videogames in America is that it's "nerdy" and it makes politicians want to pull their hair out.

That was a sad story about the Wii music thing. Reminds me of why I hate when stupid ass clerks give you their 2 cents. Like one time I went to purchase Tenchu 2, this fat ass clerk told me it sucks and Tenchu 3 is going to be better. I'm like whatever dude I don't base my opinions on magazine reviews, and I love Tenchu regardless (call me crazy I don't care). And of course Tenchu 2 graphics suck compared to 3, ones on PS1 the other PS2 DUH!

This is exactly why Monster Hunter, amazing game as it is, hasn't caught on here. We as Americans are too used to playing games where you have to beat other players that we don't like games that require cooperation. (Let's be honest, doing One-Horned Devil solo is hell...)

Also, American gamers in general don't have the patience to play Monster Hunter. It requires timing, precision, and strategy. There's no busting down doors and shooting hundreds of zombies in the face in 10 seconds. You spend 20-30 minutes hunting, tracking, and fighting the same monster, who refuses to die no matter what you hit it with.

As much as I love Monster Hunter, I am afraid it will never really catch on here the way it has in Japan. And in the famous words of Forest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that."

Well, evidently Burnout Paradise doesn't beat the hell out of Mario Kart. It's your single opinion that its better and thats pretty much it, everyone else who matters disagrees. And by that I mean journalists and review sites.

I wouldn't say western markets rely on versus games, look at games like Left4Dead and XBLA games that focus on co-op. Most of the gamers I meet are less into versus games... That said I don't hang around with the Halo crowd of gamers.

That whole list is really brought down by the award for Wii Music, I tried that for awhile at a friend's house, it was one of the worst gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Nintendo should be ashamed of that game, only award it deserves is Fail of the Year.

Everything else is what I would expect from Famitsu

# You people misunderstood mekupomogli 2009-04-25 10:43
It's not that the list is a bunch of bad games, except for Mario Kart Wii and the Last Remnant.

All these random game awards that Famitsu is pushing out just so these games can get an award, meaning more payoffs for Famitsu.

There have been multiple times that *****ty company has been found to accepting payoffs, just as many other gaming sites are biased, accept payoffs, etc, as well.

They should have called it the "Let's pretend the Xbox360 doesn't exist" awards!

I'm betting that they don't give GotY awards multiple times to the same game, and all of the XBox games they deemed good had already recieved one.

I dunno, I don't own a 360 or follow what games are out for it.

"They should have called it the "Let's pretend the Xbox360 doesn't exist" awards!"

Because in Japan it practically doesn't haha. But jokes aside I think dd409 is right, the games they consider good have already got some award probably. That would be what, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey? Just naming a couple, not saying there's only 2 worthy.

Ah but see Tales of V. and Last Remnant got something. Of course one could argue since those are multiplat, they aren't 360.

Racing Prize: Mario Kart Wii

That's what's happened to the racing game world. What's going on!?! I love racing games, why doesn't anyone else? What happened to the world?

Seems like NFS took off and no one wanted to compete. Then everyone found out NFS is *****, and we're left with nothing.
