Street Fighter 4 - Image 1Heads up Street Fighter fans, here's something good coming your way: subscribers of Electronic Gaming Monthly are now devouring EGM's exclusive coverage on Capcom's Street Fighter 4, published on the current January 2008 issue.

The coverage spans 11 pages, and here are the SF4 rumors from the last article that are finally confirmed: Street Fighter 4 is still a 2D fighting game at heart, but with 3D graphics. So the technical aspect of 2D fighting will still be present, but with the sheer beauty of 3D graphics. The creation of the game will be presided by producer Yoshinori Ono, who was interviewed in EGM's coverage of Street Fighter 4.

Street Fighter 4 is confirmed to run at a good 60fps rate, and the camera view will not budge, which may mean that gamers wouldn't be too disoriented from the get-go. As for the controls, there wouldn't be much changes. In fact, according to the magazine, the early version of the game feels like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in terms of controls.

The "Saving" feature is also confirmed as a main gameplay element in Street Fighter 4. No, it doesn't mean saving progress or items, but it is SF4's new core gaming feature that will let pummeled gamers make a great comeback. Basically, Saving utilizes the new Revenge gauge to perform attacks that are not only incredibly strong, but also will be completely unblockable. "It symbolizes the character getting angry from losing, and then channelling that rage into a last-ditch effort," Ono said.

As for the subject of which consoles will get SF4, Ono is still undecided on the matter. However, he did express his dislike for making Street Fighter 4 an exclusive for one console, saying that he want to distribute the game to as many gamers as possible.

Well, that's just the tip of the iceberg from what you can read in EGM's current January 2008 issue. More details to come!

» kudos to Ono

for non-exclusivity. Love Ryu's expression as he's kicked.

» personally

i'm not digging that "saving" feature... a little too gimmicky for me... it takes away the rush of doing a REAL come from behind win brought about by determination and gamer skill rather than some last ditch incredibly strong unblockable move.

I like that Revenge feature. Thats a great idea. I like that the game is going to play similar to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, which is one of my all time favorites. I also like the new artwork.

» Come on bud

It may not sound that great but its still in early development. I'm sure it would be really good come completed version.
