Data Design and Earache Records’ Earache Extreme Metal Racing game for the PSP premiered at the fourth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards on the June 12th in an attempt to win over metal fans. The game had to be good, as during the awards shows' interval, where scantily-clad dancing girls would usually be, Earache Extreme Metal Racing took to the stage. Two willing victims from the audience took part in a head-to-head battle, with the winner getting the opportunity to face Darren Smith from Viking Skull in the final face-off of the show. Darren Smith was shown up by Londoner Jarred, who beat Smith at the game. Jarred said "‘Cool game and great to kick Darren Smiths butt’ , however Darren didn't feel the same way. According to the Viking Skull star, ‘He was lucky! I had spent the day playing this game to make sure I was the winner, only I hit the bloody lightning zombie which blew me away’.
