I missed this, but apparently a couple of months back there was talk about Visceral Games working on a Jack the Ripper game. Nothing definite followed it up, but recent trademark filings by Electronic Arts seem to indicate that the rumor holds some water.

As spotted by superannuation, EA has filed two trademark registrations for something called "The Ripper". You can see them here and here.

A Jack the Ripper game would be aces, and Visceral has already shown that they can make a rather good atmospheric game with Dead Space. Hopefully something worthwhile materializes from these filings and not just more of EA's insane marketing stunts.

» I dunno

Even though I don't really care too much, Jack the Ripper was a pretty gross person.. We studied him in school once, absolutely disgusting, even though I've seen movies based on real life people who did disgusting things and I've played games like Manhunt, I don't think I'll touch this.. It's just too much for me :(
