EA Games' Need For Speed franchise may have taken a turn stylistically with Need For Speed: ProStreet, but the company believes that its impact on the gaming business will be similar to that of its predecessors. EA Says that NFS: ProStreet should hold the top spot for the holiday season, like most of its predecessors."A Need for Speed game has been Christmas number one for four of the last five years, with FIFA only pipping it to the post last year in a debatable count back," says Steve Farrell, senior product manager at EA.
To ensure that Need for Speed: ProStreet rules all other titles in the season of giving, EA plans to throw some major investments in a PR campaign to drum up support for the title's launch. This EA speedster is due out on November for a worldwide release on the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, Sony PSP, mobile, and Nintendo DS. Farrell concludes:
We are confident the increased quality of the game this year – as well as our extensive marketing campaign, with support throughout the run-up to Christmas – will help to re-establish a Need For Speed game at number one.
