When you're one of the top game creators from the company that dominated the handheld gaming scene at its infancy, it's only natural that you'd be checking out the latest that the scene has to offer. That's exactly what Shigeru Miyamoto did at E3. The A-list game creator from Nintendo was spotted checking out the newest competition in the handheld scene - the PSP Go, and from the looks of it, he was really checking it out.

While Sony staff at the expo looked on while some showed their high-profile guest around the new PSP, Miyamoto looks like he was really scrutinizing the PSP Go, flipping it around and taking a good look. Note that he didn't send his underlings out to scout, he got up and did it himself - major props for his hands-on approach.

Since he has plans for adding more services to the DS, it's possible that he's checking out what the PSP Go can do that the DS does not or cannot support. Remember the handheld that they canned? Maybe Miyamoto's checking to see if it's time to go and whip up a new one like Sony did. No word from Miyamoto on the subject though.

» Kinda awkward for Sony

if I was on the floor I would not know what to do. Do I go up to him and help him out. Do I just stand there and stare to see what he does. Do I treat him just like anyone else and try to sell him one? Looks like they chose to help him if that guy in the blue shirt works for Sony.

Secretly I bet he owns a PSP cause we know those Japanese people can't resist the Monster Hunter.

You can check the time of our post and you will see that im telling the thuth. Compare the time with the one from Kotaku and/or other sources and you will see too. And futhermore, i´ve send qj.net and ps3news the tip for this news, many hours before the news from Kotaku being posted, you can check that too. Our site is gamessemcomprom isso.blogspot.com . Again, please, do the right thing, because thats not the way to go with your informants, and please, dont delete this post before answear us properly. Thanks... João Andrade

I apologize for the infraction, and I've already corrected the source.

If you could provide me with an email address, then I would be glad to send my formal apologies through there.

So what? He's still human. You treat him like he's some kind of "god". He probably owns all major consoles, or do you really think he just plays his own games? I bet he's even a Halo 3 and Killzone 2 pro.....

» i can't believe it!!

He probably is thinking, "Well, it slides out, but where's the second screen?"

by Digitus - 2009-06-05 07:57
» Ha

Be nice if he was looking at it to propose a new handheld. Combine the best of both systems with a graphical update and some new ideas. Keep in mind this is the guy who brought us Pikmin from gardening in his yard. Who knows what he can get out of actual technology (lol)

Wouldn't it be even cooler if he made a game for PSP? I know Nintendo fans would feel like he was cheating but I'm a fan of his games. Be really cool if he designed some new Zelda-like game for Sony, unhindered by the (very few) limits Ninty sets.

Sound reasoning from a sound man.

This, of coarse, is sarcasm.

» lol!

that's a very good one!

props to miyamoto for checking out the merch himself. although he's pretty much game for anything, so it's not really surprising he'd come down to the competition's booth himself.

he's established himself already. he should be (and apparently he already is) over that "oh, i don't wanna be seen with them cos they're competition" mentality.

Shigeru isn't a fanboy or anything. Anyone remember that video last year when he was caught playing KZ2, and actually liked it?

by Specht - 2009-06-07 09:59
» really???

If I was on the show floor as a Sony rep I'd be ecstatic. Shigeru Miyamoto is pretty much a God in the gaming industry and I doubt anybody would care what company they worked for with him being there.

It's no secret that Miyamoto-san owns PlayStation products. It was his idea for a Metal Gear on the GCN since he's a huge fan of the series. I highly doubt the big names in the industry only use their products. Just thinking that is absurd.
