Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Image 1

In case you missed Sony's E3 2009 press conference earlier today, the PSP got another AAA title added to its upcoming lineup: Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Peace Walker takes place ten years after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, so presumable the "Snake" here is Naked Snake. Kojima himself is writing the script and producing this game, and the main Metal Gear Solid 4 team is also involved, so this is no spin-off. It's a real sequel and a main entry in the MGS franchise.

Here are some screenshots from the game. There's also a video of the announcement as well as the game preview below the screens. The preview itself starts at the 2:23 mark. Oh, and don't forget to watch the cardboard box bit at the end.

I can't wait for this game. And does that look like some co-op at the end? I hope so!

This is now one of my most wanted titles in 2010!!! I'm so glad for Playstation, it seems that finally, it is making a comeback!!!

dAlso I'm glad this game is starring old snake and his story. Personally he is my favorite character in the series (even more so than Solid Snake). I love his duality and how he once was a hero and then he turned "evil". Jeez I'm getting all jittery just thinking about this game.

YAY Metal Gear!!!!

Not sure if I'll get this cos while I like the characters and actual gameplay of Metal Gear the lengthy cutscenes always feel far too intrusive and overlong and ultimately kill my interest in continuing to play all the MGS games I've owned. But having said that it's great to see yet another major title for the PSP. I already consider the PSP to have the best portable games library ever and now we're getting even more plenty big name games for it like this LBP, Motorstorm, Jak & Daxter and so on. Nice to see Sony and the third parties supporting the PSP this much even with Nintendo's (undeserved these days in my opinion) dominance of the handheld market.

Hideo Kojima and the MGS4 Team is working hard on this and even Kojima himself is writing the plot then where does that leave Metal Gear Solid Rising? Does that mean it's going to be directed by someone else and worked on by a different team? or does it mean that it's not going to even start production until the PSP version is done? Because as you can see the PSP version looks like its almost done and by the looks of it a launch title for PSP GO and Metal Gear Solid Rising well has like a trailer with random pictures which probably has deep meaning to the game and then at the end Metal Gear Rising: Lightning Bolt Action.

Forgot about the part where it says 2010 but still the point is this actually has a release date and Rising has like no information.

Honestly, when Kojima went up and was talking about how it would be written by him, and it's the true sequel not a side story, and that the MGS4 team would be working on it, it kinda made Rising less appealing. But like you said, maybe it's because he wants to hype up this game which is coming out sooner. For some reason, I feel as if Rising's going to end up being a XBLA/PSN game.

# PSN only title?Impuls3 2009-06-02 15:27
Since Sony is trying to move to a UMD-less environment, which is obvious seeing as they've made the PSP Go without a UMD drive, I'm guessing this might be on the list as a download only title. Either way I'm making sure to get this MGS, cause its gonna be crazy.

Now, I think I'm gonna drown myself with all this epic games coming out. I'm digging the co-op play at trailer, I hope it's really co-op. Lotsa' Solid Snakes there. haha.

Loved the box at the ending. LOL!

Aaaand...

They're Peace Walker now... not Peace Maker...

They don't make peace, they walk through it.

Wait.. that doesn't make sense. lol.

me loves the resurrection of E3 now...

well MPO was a proper sequel, MPO+ was a multiplayer focused expansion

As my name implies I like MGS games - Own them all ( except for AC!D series, not my type)- Games looks awesome but, I hope they fix that lousy control on the PSP. For MPO was the only drawback. Game looks like is not going to be very long and, as for cut scenes - IT'S A MGS GAME GUYS - you can always expect cut scenes to be long - it doesn't bother me - let's see how the story unfolds -2010 seems very far but is not so I will dust off my PSP and warm it up in the meantime. Btw, co-op will change the way we play the game - people will choose this option rather than online multikilling!

Well, this isn't Old Snake as Solid Snake is known as Old Snake in MGS4.

Big Boss wasn't really evil, and if you'd played MGS4 and watched all the cutscenes, you'd know he just misinterpreted The Boss's will. You can't really blame him for what he did either, with what he went through in MGS3.

It could seem like Big Boss was simply evil back in the MG days, where you're just Solid Snake and you're the protagonist, but it's just not the case.

I gotta play it on PSP? I hate Raiden, I don't care if you put that turd in a ninja suit, in the end he's still a turd

I'm impressed it has actual cutscenes this time, instead of the cartoon drawings. I hope the story isn't confusing like MPO

U said non gay but the part where snake sneaks in the box with himself .yeah it doesn't get more gay than that lol maybe soild snake wasn't a clone lol gross!!! I like co.but that kind of defeats the whole thought of Metal Gear Solid? solo based sneaking missions with tips along the way. Idk I ow every Metal Gear Game but I might wait on this.

if you all can remember portable ops first trailer we all saw we can play more than snake then near the end you see snake knock on the wall and eva parmedic and ocelot pop pput and start shooting the fox guys but we all know we cant play co-op but can only play online if you see all the snakes are all looking and aiming at the new metal gear?? You probaley have the recruting back because you see Big Boss recruit that guy with a fulcton maybe because Cambells not back who knows you maybe can play co-op because of theat C box at the end lets just hope what we see becomes reality next year cause none of Kojimas Metal Gear games have had a CO-OP feature maybe this will?
