Kazunori Yamauchi - Image 1Kazunori Yamauchi, the CEO of Polyphony Digital as well as the creator and producer of the Gran Turismo series, was at E3 2008 where he let slip a number of details about the future of GT5 Prologue, as well as the launch dates of both the PS3's GT5 and PSP's GT4 Mobile.

In a short talk with Joystiq, Yamauchi hinted that they plan on expanding GT5 Prologue by adding even more cars, tracks, and features. He stated that his studio is actually focusing a majority of its efforts on the aforementioned game.

With regard to the launch of GT5, Yamauchi stated that we might not see the game before 2010. In addition, GT4 Mobile for the PSP is still in development and that it won't be released until after GT5 comes out. This means that we may have to wait a bit before we get our hands on either game. Oh well, at least we have GT5 Prologue, right?

GT4 Moble to be released AFTER GT5 is released! The psp2 will probably be released before this game comes out.

» i was holding off...

I was going to wait for a clarification on the release date on GT5 before deciding on when to buy a PS3 and G25 but I guess this news seals the deal...I will probably get the combo at the next PS3 price drop.

» Backwards

Isn't this a bit backwards? Sony marketed the PSP with GT4 Mobile, featuring its UMD with the handheld. Yet now it's going to be one of the last games released for the PSP?

Isn't that a bit backwards?

» yep

I know isn't that redundant? I have been waiting for this game ever since I got my new psp back in 2006. I really hope its worth the wait or I am gonna be pissed.

» preorder

ya i remember having gt4 or pre-ordered from gamestop for like a year then to find out it was canceled or put on hold until further notice and that was prolly back in '06 i suppose.

i loved gt4 and was lookn forward to GT prologue but i was kinda dissappointed with it, not being able to mod any cars and a short supply of cars

» it's kinda funny, but it brings back memories.

I remember before the PSP came out, and they showed GT4 Mobile a lot. Everyone expected it to come sooner or later. Now it'll be one of the last games we play on the system.. That was back when E3 was still awesome and TGS was cool too.

But 2010? That's a little..wow. Well, yeah, everyone DOES have Prologue, but wow.

» with the psp2?

The PSP2 will come around 2011/14 because the PSP has a 10 year lifecycle like the PS1,PS2 and the PS3. Games are getting better and better on the system, why don't release a PSP ultra edition with 128mb ram and drop the fat, so they can use the full 64mb RAM and with the better batteries of the slim and the 'ultra' all games can run on 333mhz

» Pfft.

It's pretty clear now that GT Mobile was just meant to drive sales of the PSP earlier on. They probably never had any intention of releasing it, and I doubt even now that they ever will.
