Ó
The NPD Group has finally rolled out the North American sales figures for December and the full year of 2007 - and looking at them, it seems that the videogame industry in a whole should feel justified in popping open a champagne bottle or two. For not only did all the parties involved get a healthy boost in sales, but the industry in general received an annual growth of up to 43%, or US$ 17.94 billion. That's a whole lot of growth, right there.
As usual, we see Nintendo taking the top spots in the hardware categories - with the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS garnering very healthy figures on both December and 2007 sales. On the software side, we see that the Xbox 360 leading with Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Bungie's Halo 3, followed closely by Super Mario Galaxy and the all-time favorite Wii Play. All in all, a very interesting month and a very interesting year as far as sales figures are concerned.
