Dissidia cast - Image 1The official Japanese webpage for Square Enix's upcoming PSP action title, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, has been given a bit of an upgrade. New additions include Story, Character and Info sections.

The Character section contains basic info on some of the game's confirmed fighters. These include the Warrior of Light and Garland from Final Fantasy, Frioniel (Firion for all you purists) and Emperor Mateus from Final Fantasy 2Squall Leonhart and Ultimecia from Final Fantasy 8, and Final Fantasy 9's Zidane and Kuja.

Artwork found on the members-only section of the Japanese Square Enix site suggest that character info for Jecht and Tidus from Final Fantasy 10 will be on the next update. That's the image to the right, courtesy of NeoGAF member jiggle.

Hopefully the next update will also reveal the other members of the game's playable cast. I'm personally looking forward to the representatives for Final Fantasy 6. Keep checking back here for more news.

» Way too many

Only 2 characters per game. Tifa, Vincent and Barret are all no shows. Cloud and Sephiroth take the FF7 cast.

Yuna and Auron are no shows. Tidus and Jecht take the FF10 cast.

I have no idea who will represent FF6 right now. Gilgamesh is not a principal character in any FF game.

Seifer and Squall will represent FF8.

Zidane and Kuja already represent FF9 and have since the game's announcement.

There will be no FFXII characters at all. Balthier will have to wait for the next 20th anniversary.

» oh wait

Sorry I'm wrong. No Seifer. Its Squall and Ultimacia... inexplicably.

» FF6

I'm hoping for either Locke or Celes for the good guys' side and Kefka as the bad guy. Of course, Square Enix could surprise everyone by announcing Umaro and Ultros instead. LOL

» FFVI

I'd love to see Tina for the good side. There appears to be a lack of female characters in this game. For the bad guys, only Kefka comes to mind.

All I want is Rinoa. Seriously, she was the hottest of all FF babes ever....

» ULTROS FTW!!!

Or... They might even throw in Relm. I'd definitely want to see that. She goes right into battle carrying a paintbrush. Sweet!

But yeah, I guess Celes would work for me also. She can do opera too! LOL

Still no word on FF12. But thinking about it now... what if they lump together the whole cast of the Ivalice Alliance series into an entry for FF12? This just might bring in Ashley from Vagrant Story. Yeah, I know it's a stretch, but really now, it's still worth a shot. :-p

Hey hey... calm down. Hehehe!

US version: Terra

Japan version: Tina

That's localization for ya. Just like the whole Aeris-Aerith thing for FF7.

» was thinking the same thing

Tina(FF6)/Terra(FF3) will work fine in the game. i am surprised that Seifer from 8 is not there, nor Kuja/Cloud/Sephiroth/Cecil being announced, but w/e.

Imma still buy the game when i comes out, because it's final fantasy and fighting in 1, my 2 favorites, and their is no way they can mess up a final fantasy fighting game (coughagaincoug h)
