Dissidia: Final Fantasy on top of the food chain in Japan for December |
Ó
Typical of a major Final Fantasy release, Dissidia is sitting pretty on top of the Japan software charts in its first month of release. The game sold 660,000 copies by the end of December, far outstripping even Nintendo's Animal Crossing: City Folk.
It's not often a PSP game plops on top of the charts (or anything not Nintendo-related, really) in Japan. Notable exceptions are Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, and of course, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7. Dissidia was a shoe-in. But of course, it's Square Enix.
Here are the rest of the top ten games in Japan for the month of December (the second set of numbers are lifetime sales).
- Final Fantasy Dissidia (Square Enix, PSP, 660,262)
- Animal Crossing City Folk (Nintendo, Wii, 481,695, 895,302)
- Kirby Super Star Ultra (Nintendo, DS, 403,279, 855,427)
- Girls Mode (Nintendo, DS, 299,170, 549,348)
- Professor Layton and the Final Time Journey (Level-5, DS, 267,365, 628,143)
- Pokemon Platinum (Pokemon, DS, 258,843, 2,187,337)
- Taiko no Tatsujin Wii (Bandai Namco, Wii, 251,183
- Rhythm Heaven (Nintendo, DS, 221,971)
- Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii, 211,651)
- Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 (Koei, PS3, 206,438)
Frak it why doesn't Dissidia come out in English already:

Dissidia is just nothing else but pure awesome... pure awesome a bit of frustration not being able to understand what the item/ability descriptions are but thats just a minor annoyance, I mean it's the Japanese version so what the hell do you expect XD. But yea I haven't commented on any Dissidia articles lately because I've been to busy playing it :D. But yea... Dissidia > all those games and many other PSP games to come. It's also good at making friends at school jealous lol
WOW hell ya well it is a fighting game that crosses all of or most FF game characters so ya it would be in the first place =) Man I hope it gets to the US this spring or summer =D
