Disgaea Port Coming to PSP |
Ó
Following the announcement of the Tales of Phantasia and Riviera: The Promised Land ports comes the news of another updated port: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Seeing as Disgaea wasn't a graphically intense game, it should go to the PSP without too many modifications. To get past Sony Computer Entertainment America's strict port guidelines, the game will have an added dungeon, added scenarios, and extra character voices. Whether or not it'll actually ever make it over to North America and Europe is unknown. The game is set to be released in Japan on November 30th of this year. Thank you to duckroll of NeoGAF for the translation.

yay me!
Yes More Disgaea goodness! Would be nice if they gave Prier and Marjoly at least one sentence to say instead of stand there and laugh.
Disgaea kicks tactical ASS! Im gonna be piled up on my couch for several hundred hours again, thats for damn sure. Lets all pray for the portable future for disgaea 2 as well?
????????????
sweet, hope comes to NA
"To get past Sony Computer Entertainment America's strict port guidelines, the game will have an added dungeon, added scenarios, and extra character voices. Whether or not it'll actually ever make it over to North America[..]" Gee, the guidelines are for SCE AMERICA, not for the rest of the world. It's clearly coming here.
Basil Zero, mentioned something about Disgaea in the recent "Games that would really suit the PSP" thread? HERE YOU HAVE IT! And I'll be able to play it too, as you suggested me to do!
I couldn't find any indication of Disgaea PSP news on the livedoor blog the ruliweb post linked to. Even then, it would hardly be official confirmation of such a project (read: possible hoax). If this was really a project under development, I think Famitsu would break the news first. That said, if its really going to be released by 2006 end, TGS would be the place to make an announcement. I wouldn't hold my breath though. I do hope that this is legit news though, as Makai Wars was (note the past tense) one of the main reasons I picked up a PSP. Atleast if this doesn't pan out, theres always Jeanne d'Arc.
I’ve got the original ps2 and I’m 3/5 through the game. I haven’t touched it since last year because the game was too time time consuming & addictive - (there’s too much to do aka item world.) I reckon it be brilliant on a handheld and could be less time consuming because you can take it anywhere. So I’ll probably get it if you can link it up to the ps2 save files
Wow... i had this on ps2 and hardly got into it becuase it was sooo deep, i can really see myself getting into it this time on the psp cause of the portability....
give me something new instead but I won't be able to play it though, I'm still with 1.5 firmware is there a way I can play new games without upgrading my psp?
rukawa: yeah, if you are on 1.50, install Devhook 0.46 and you can play your 2.71 UMDs.
LOL this HAS to come out here. Disgaea was an absolutely incredible game and would be SO COOL portable *dies*

looks cool i just hope it will come to north america Hey check out my website www.geocities.com/game_reviewer_1992
OMFG yes more ports! You'd think that more than a year into the PSP's life it would have more to offer than more ports of old games... :/
i love this game!!
d00d!!
>16. dsfargeg One of the most critically acclaimed games on the NDS, Phoenix Wright, is also a port. My point is that ports aren't necessarily a bad thing. Particularly when the target sales market has not had much exposure to the game in question. In Phoenix Wright's case, there never was an English GBA version. In Disgaea's case, the English PS2 print was extremely rare. So I believe the port is justified. Even then, I think most Disgaea fans who have already completed the game don't mind at all to play it again, or kill time in the item worlds. I know I won't.
Okay, it doesn't matter that it's a port if you haven't played the game. It's rare. :) Hopefully it comes out in America, though. :D

Anyway... since I hit the enter button on that last past, stupid thing... as I was saying.. Oh YES! Finaly, I have not been able to get my hands on the orignal game, so I HOPE that this comes out in ANY form of english! I would get it RIGHT away! Yes... I so need it...
playstation PORTable
Whyyyy one and not two? Why a port and not a new game? I've played enough of the game, don't know if I would want to replay the same thing with a few extras..
etna made me love loli
Time to rack up another three hundred hour save game!!! Portable Item World!!!! MWAHAHAHAAHHAAHA!
Never played the original, maybe it's a sign.
If there were any reason for me to get a PSP, this is it.
#23 good one ;)
I might just wet myself if this comes out to the US. It's not final fantasy tactics, but the handheld version of that didn't turn out so well anyway. Good tactical gameplay to go!
I hope they port Phantom Brave as well
Lets do some quoting. "To get past Sony Computer Entertainment America's strict port guidelines" Sony Computer Etertainment America... "Whether or not it'll actually ever make it over to North America and Europe is unknown." Suggestion, Proof Read.
Flonne made that game! Her voice is verbal exstacy. Seriously though, I got to the last boss with 240 hrs of gameplay and still wasnt leveled up enuff to beat him. Had to trade it in but its an incredible and unforgettable game....because of Flonne of course
Disgaea is one of the best RPG's ever! I just hope they add some kind of multiplayer mode to the psp version. Building up your army and battling your mates would be sweet.
I don't see what I did wrong? I spelled Entertainment right. It's you who spelled it wrong. Are you complimenting me because I spell better? Or are you trying to point out SCEA doesn't have much to do with Europe? If Disgaea does not make it to North America, there is a VERY low chance of it being localized for Europe. Europe requires more languages to be thrown in and is a smaller market. Very few games make it from Japan to Europe but not North America.
to ballz a plenty are you saying you didn't use the evil sword or whatever is called or the spare. LOL and for flonne, you are weird. to 12. freaking awesome man, I didn't know that program was capable of doing that, thanks
