Dead Space pushes 1.4 million units, PSP version still unlikely

Electronic Art's original IP Dead Space (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) was most certainly alive and kicking in sales as the figures have been revealed, after being released on multiplatforms (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) late last year. In total, the game's raked in 1.4 million copies. With this success rate, is it likely that we'll be seeing to other platforms?

Hmmm... chunky...

Unfortunately, the answer to that seems to be a no. Despite the recent decision to port the game to the Wii, and the speculations that we just might see it drop on the handhelds, Visceral Games (formerly known as Redwood Shores studio) of EA is tending to the negative end of the spectrum for now.

Glen Schofield, head of Visceral, says that it's mainly because porting the game to handhelds would entail certain compromises, and they're not all too ready to commit to those just yet.

If we could, maybe. I think part of the problem is all the major physics and the dismemberment, and things like that. I want to stay true to the vision of Dead Space, and that is about dismemberment, zero G, and stuff like that. We'd have to make some compromises that I am not willing to make yet.

Maybe the PSP2 will have better capabilities to handle the game's important features? *wink*

I'm glad they have reached a good 1.4 mil in sales. For a game that's way better than RE5 that's still not enough. I don't care mush for PSP version and instead want Dead Space 2. It's not scary or surpising in handhelds.

Things this game did wrong: It was easy even in Impossible.

The Wii version says you're fine with that.

I disagree. On impossible the game was way hard... at least for me.

» Just picked this game up from Blockbuster brand new a few weeks ago on sale for $25!

I heard this game was good and scary. Pretty scary during the day but I decided to play it one night in the dark with headphones and cranked up and it scared the holy ***** out of me! I was only able to take about 30 minutes of it. I am eager however to play it like that again soon.
