Dan Hsu officially announces resignation from Ziff Davis and 1UP |
Ó
We've seen a number of people leave EGM and 1UP over the years. The latest person who has announced his intention of doing so is Dan Hsu. "Shoe," as he is affectionately known, has officially announced his resignation. His last day on the job will be April 25, 2008.Hsu made it clear in his resignation message that he wasn't laid off or forced out due to any problems with Ziff Davis or anything - the decision to move on was entirely his. His colleague, Sam Kennedy, will take over the responsibilities of Editorial Director upon Hsu's departure from the company.
So what does Hsu intend to do afterward? According to him, plenty. Of primary importance are lots of rest and sleep, plus immersing himself in various games such as Patapon and possibly World of Warcraft. Nevertheless, Hsu admitted that he loves the video game business too much to stay away from it forever. Nevertheless, by his own admission, he first needs to catch up on some of some much-needed quality time for himself.

shoe is a nice guy, I've writen him before. I never thought this day would come.
Agreed. I guess they all move on after a while. :( I still remember the time Steve Harris and Ed Semrad left.
At least he won't really be leaving the industry. He probably just needs a break.
now all they have to do is fire all the other EGM writters! I used to love EGM, but now all they do is talk crap on the ps3. a few months after the ps3 launched, i saw the change.
Hsu is a Microsoft/Halo fanboy, but it will still be sad to see him leave. I wish him all the best in his next endeavour.
He may prefer the 360,but he NEVER gave a bias review. He even said how he keeps his integrity. Just because he doesn't give every ps3 game(lair included) a 10 doesn't make him bias. When ps3 starts to release AAA exclusives you'll realize they aren't bias at all.
