Crisis Core: FF VII European Spring release confirmed, new screenshots - Image 1

Square Enix recently announced a concrete release date for the much-anticipated PlayStation Portable exclusive Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. If you missed that particular update, it's March 25 to be exact.

Gamers situated in PAL territories need not worry as Square Enix has just sent us a press release informing everyone that the said regions will also be sure to get Crisis Core. However, the schedule for the launch is a wide open Spring 2008.

Final Fantasy VII, the most successful installment in the franchise to date, revolves around many unexplained events. Crisis Core, now, follows the character Zack in his adventures and perils leading up to FF VII.

In terms of content and gameplay, Square Enix has made sure that the wait is worth it as several new additions were incorporated to the PAL version of the game. These include full 16:9 widescreen presentation, an engaging battle system, and additional gameplay challenges not included in the original Japanese version.

"Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is one of the most anticipated Final Fantasy releases of all times. The game pushes the boundaries of the PSP hardware and will offer a truly fantastic gameplay experience for new fans and fans of the original instalment," said Square Enix CEO and President John Yamamoto.

Glad to see the PSP whiping out some amazing titles. I'm currently playing Daxter which is 1000X more than I expected! It's amazing. We've got Crisis core, GoW CoO and KH BbS all in a short period of time!! OMG can't wait.

New additions?

The Japanese version doesn't include full 16:9 widescreen presentation? The Japanese version's battle system is not engaging?

what?

This also struck me as weird. Is the US version not coming with the widescreen? and what do they mean by engaging battle system? This post brings up a lot of questions.

Awesome

Some new screenshots are good. Crisis Core looks like a pretty good game. I've played a little bit from the Japanese version..

It would be nice

if CC ended up on the PS3 but there is no doubt that there will be at least 2 FF games on PS3 right?

wait to be mildly dissapointed

played the JAP version twice, bad hoaky additions to classic story, get ready for 2 new sephiroths with different hair who both die like 4 times and are SO artificially added, more scientists, a gay book called loveless, and the fact that the main story can be completed in about 6 hours tops, the rest of the "40 hours" are missions, meaning go fight monsters till you see one that isnt random, beat it, and have some hoaky conversation with yuffie. yay. seriously im glad this game brought some love to my fav system the psp, but it is not worthy of the name ff7. it is however much better than Dirge of Cerebrus. I call the EGM reviews - 7, 8, 7

Well....

I've played the Japanese version of Crisis Core (just to sample it, and it does kick ass by the way) and it IS in widescreen... would be totally dumb if a PSP game came out that was 4:3. As for the rest of the stuff, I think that they are just trying to say that they improved it slightly... I wouldn't put too much thought into it.
by Arliman - 2008-01-30 17:24:29
Wow...

If it sucks so bad, why did you play it TWICE? Assuming that you beat it twice since you claim to know how long it takes to beat the game? Do you know Japanese? If you don't, how do you know what the hell is going on? Maybe the conversations seem hoaky because they are in a different *****ing language? You're a *****ing genius.
