Atlus has once more confirmed the existence of Crimson Gem Saga, an English remake of the Korean-developed Astonishia Story 2. I say remake because Atlus has added a lot to this version, dropping in over 1,000 additional lines of recorded voice work.

Crimson Gem Saga has been priced at US$ 29.99, quite a bit cheaper than importing the Asian version which also happens to be in English. Release date has been set for May 26, 2009. In the meantime, check out these new screenshots:

» Wish they didn't change the name

But since Astonishia Story was orignally published by Ubisoft, the reason they used a different name is probably because they either couldn't or would have to pay out the ass.

Although, the original wasn't very well received here in the US, so I guess it's sortof a good thing. I personally like to have the original named release though.

» i've played the asian version

it's in Engrish... wonder if Atlus will add more to the content besides additional lines of voice works...

something like more skills since the original version / asian version had too few skills to learn....

Yeah I agree, many people avoid the first one because they heard it was terrible. Distancing themselves from the original name is a good thing. The game is great and needs a fair chance at a fresh start.

» Don't count on it

Usually they just do translation stuff, they usually don't mess with the core gameplay much.

That was a nice game...however it was quite short, ended in nowhere, and the story could have continued with Spinel,but...Oh,not to mention some silly mistakes in the English text.

» Translation in Asian version

The translation in the Asian version is absolutely horrid. To the point that it detracts from the game. You feel obligated to skip all of the dialogue since it's so poorly done.

I'm still trying to buy Astonishia Story 1, I can't find it in any shops.
