Crazy things people sell on eBay: 24-console bundle |
Listed in: Tags: Atari, Chrono Trigger, eBay, Kris Kling, Penny Arcade
Ó
We've posted about that rare Chrono Trigger Rom listing on eBay earlier this month, and it seems that some of you folks appreciated it, so here are more tales of gaming awesome on eBay.
Here's the the story: 30 year old gamer Kris Kling, is selling his huge 24-system console bundle on eBay. It has stuff from the ancient-yet-classic Atari 2600, all the way to the PSP. The bundle has systems from Sega, Sony, Microsoft, Atari, and Nintendo. It even has the rare Sega Nomad.
What's nice about this auction is that 10 percent of the proceeds are going to the Child's Play Charity that the Penny Arcade guys set up. So bidding just to up the price, as annoying as that is (sorry, bid-spammers are just irritating at times), is a good thing in this case. At the moment of this writing the highest bid is US$ 405.00. You can get to the eBay listing via our "read" link below.
The ultimate video game system collection? Well, we'll leave the "ultimate" part up to you guys, we'll go busy ourselves with bidding.

Anyone find it odd that he's apparently so wowed by these systems, played certain games to death (read the Jaguar bit), but then lists the system WITHOUT ANY GAMES? --I would think a real gamer would at least have the games they're raving about listed with the item for sale, especially if their intent is to let another gamer "enjoy it" like he has.
Yes, 10% to charity. Big woop. He probably just bought all these off of eBay for like $200, will wind up making a grand, and give $100 to charity. --Who's really winning out?

oh i think he didnt have the 32x and CD add on for his sega mega-drive/genesis and he is also missing the sega master system from which the GAME GEAR is derived from.

My name is Kris, and I was the guy who sold the 24 system auction on eBay this weekend. I wish I found this site sooner so i could have answered some questions, but i at least wanted to thank everyone for checking out the auction and making it a huge success.
i realize that this isn't a collection that includes every single system ever made (I'll never make those lynx and collecovision people happy lol), but I thought that 24 systems all at once was a pretty awesome sale. people kept telling me I was missing this system or that system, but really this was all the major systems to come out as i was growing up, and they were all I had without buying a bunch of crap on ebay, so that is what i sold.
regardless, there were over 5,000 hits, and the final sale price was $3,850 with $380 going to Child's Play, so i'm happy about that. the winner was in the UK, so I hope he has a NTSC setup and to play these systems on! i realize i could have held onto these forever and maybe made more money, but this is just the time in my life when i thought they should go to somebody who can hook them all up and enjoy them because i just have to focus on some important real-life things right now.
And for those of you wondering, i have many, many, many games. hundreds in fact. all sorts of rare, import, and hard to find games like the original 2-player tengen tetris or the complete mario, zelda, and metroid collections. i just wanted to keep this strictly a console collection, so i reluctantly only included games that originally came with the system. Thanks again qj!
