Court approves - Square Enix officially taking over Eidos |
Ó
It's final - nearly a month after Eidos Interactive shareholders approved the Square Enix takeover, court has finally approved the publisher's acquisition, making Lara Croft and Tomb Raider
part of the Square Enix family, although it doesn't appear that Eidos'
operations will be affected too much by the new arrangement. The take-over formally takes effect tomorrow, April 22nd, and Eidos shares will be de-listed from the London Stock Exchange by 8AM London Time on the 23rd. The US$ 117 million take-over gives the Tokyo-based Square Enix a stronghold in Western shores.
With Eidos under Square Enix, it'd be interesting how the latter would be using its new resources to their advantage. Focus naturally will turn to games, and how Lara Croft will fit in next to her new Japanese mates.

This could hopefully do the Tomb Raider games justice I think. Sounds like a good idea for spueenix to have it. I feel it was getting a bit... unrealistic to say the least. Let's hope Squeenix realize this. And hopefully fix the dam camera problems that came out in later games.
We all new this would happen. Not surprising at all. That said, I only hope this helps to improve the consortium, unlike the merger with einx.
True, what did that merger really do in the end? Personally I don't think anything really came of it. And, to be straight forward, TRaider could really get any worse, as it gets older and changes have been made it has kinda gotten worse. I find myself in front of TR 1 + 2 more than any of the others.
Way back in the day, Eidos ported Final Fantasy VII to the PC. I wonder if we will see more FF-PC ports due to this merger...?
I guess Lara's Next Trek will be exploring the Tombs in Japan? who knows she might get lucky and find Zack Fair and Aerith Gainsborough's unmarked graves..
will have Lady Croft as the next princess of light...
oh and in Hollow Bastion Agent 47 will be there too as side-quest giver
also they'll make another sequel to dirge of cerberus, this time using the TR engine
Yeah, like a Lara cameo in KH. Hooray!
That would be a really sh%u0456tty thing to do.
Even if they add a Japanese touch to the Hitman series or Tomb Raider series (Prince of Persia 4 comes to mind) I would probably still play the games, if they're any good, which they probably would. But I really do hope they won't replace the dev team.
I just hope this doesn't have any affect on Deus Ex 3. I'm very much looking forward to it.
tomb raider rpg here we come lol jk
