Confirmed: new Jak & Daxter game for PSP, PS2; screens revealed |
Ó
And there we have it, my furry friends. Dynamic duo Jak and Daxter really are coming back, and now it's 100% confirmed. No, this is not an April Fool's joke.
Via press release (and through the PS Blog too), SCEE has announced Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier for the PSP and PS2 to arrive this fall season. Picking up right after the events of the J&D trilogy, the story here will follow the two friends and their buddy Kiera on her quest to become a Sage.
Strange though. I was under the assumption that The Lost Frontier was previously rumored to be a PS3/PS2 game. Back in 2006, it was said to be a reboot. Guess the rumors were partly false then. Not that I'm complaining. Maybe Naughty Dog is still working on a PS3 J&D despite this too.
Oh yeah, year of the PSP indeed: LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm, Dissidia, and now... Jak & Daxter too? All within the year! Aww, Sony, you make me all teary eyed in joy.

PS2...?
I guess that's a little disappointing, but whatever. Any new Jak is good Jak.
Of course PS2. Nice easy port of the PSP game like the GTA Stories and Ratchet and Clank - Size Matters to get more sales.
Definitely looking forward to this, LBP and Motorstorm for my PSP
Daxter was a blast to play, but i'd prefer something more similar to jak2 or 3
hopefully they can overcome the lack of a second analog stick with this baby.
Lol might have to actually buy a game or two this year....lol
I'm so happy
it really is odd that they're coming out for PS2...i wonder if there will be some kind of "connectivity" between the psp and ps2 versions.
I cant wait to get this game...in fact i cant wait to get a lot of games
So who is making this one? The people who made Daxter? Sounds ok to me!
On somewhat of a side note: Who else thinks that the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters controls worked really well even without the second joystick? Everyone complains about not having a second joystick, but I think if most of the PSP shooter games (and other games) used the trigger buttons to turn the camera like Size Matters did, there would be a lot less complaining.
No the people that made Daxter are not making this one. It's the people who made Ratchet + Clank that will be making this one. (High Impact Buttons)
WTF why did I type "Buttons"!?! I meant to say "High Impact Games"
Now if only the could port the first three to the PSP :) (I've only played the first in the series, which I loved, and Daxter, which I hated).
I felt God of War controlled somehow even better on the PSP than on PS2. You got the right analog stick's dodging controls by pressing both shoulder buttons and move the left stick and somehow it felt more satisfying. I don't know why.
I thought Daxter was really good. I didn't think I would enjoy it but it was certainly one of my favorite 3d platformers.
Anyone remember the Tomba! games? The ones that haven't been around since PS1? I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel or remake of them...I really enjoyed those games. I actually put a good amount of hours into those games.
Yep, i loved the tomba games. It was made by the same guy who created megaman. One of my favorite PS1 games.
PSP ports would be grrrrrrrrreat! ^_^
Daxter kinda bored me. I liked the level design, but I felt the collecting was a bit tedious after a while. The timed mission were you drive the hovercraft around and spray the flowers was really frustrating for me. I'm not a pro (anymore) at games though. I think if you fail at a mission over 5-10 times they should give you a pass.
I really like R.A.D. though. They do great level design and their work on GOWCOO was epic.
as far as platformers on the PSP, I think they should take a few ques from Agent Clank. I really enjoyed most of that game as well as Ratchet & Clank SM.
