In-game advertising is rearing its ugly head again, but at least this time it comes with some sort of payout for gamers. Starting Aug. 11, Playstation Portable owners will be able to download Coke-themed add-ons for their copy of Wipeout Pure. The racer downloads will include new vehicles and courses with a Coke twist.

hey, i'd rather have a few ad's in the update and get it for free, then not having ad's and having to pay for it. think of it that way. plus i dont mind coke. at least its not some obscure advertising.

Isn't Coke the one who's bringing us updates. They're all made by Sony and painted by Coke, so we're just getting gamma packs flooded by ads.

Now we know where these gamma packs cease. Thanks $ony.

I mean, it's not like it will permanently taint your Wipeout Pure disc.

If it turns out to be lame then just delete it.

I don't think that this will end the updates.

"The racer downloads will include new vehicles and courses with a Coke twist."

-Coke always has to have a stupid twist. I kinda like this idea though. I WANT A MOUNTAIN DEW RACER!!!! (come on Pepsi!)

Free courses are free courses, no one is forcing you to download so I don't see the point in griping. Wipeout Pure is by far the best use of downloadable content on the PSP so far.

And on top of that they get free advertising from you?

Hmmm.. Pretty cool. They should make a coca cola skin too. I wish Sony would like hold a WiFi based Wipeout tourney and the winner gets to like make a custom track and ship!

These wipeout packs are crap anyway. After a few minutes play I can't wait to delete them, otherwise I don't have quite enough room to get that last proper game onto my 1 gig card.

If only they'd of built in infrastructure mode. Oh well roll on Mario Kart DS. :)

THe guys that are griping about this are idiots. Look closely in about any big budget game and you'll find some form of sponsorship in one way or another. GT4 is plastered with billboards and advertisements and it's still a class game.

cool! i like coke, i like the drink... and does anyone remember those cheats in the previous wipeouts where you could have biplane style ships etc? that was also fun, so i'm going wholeheartedly for it! kudos to coca cola, they were first... on the psp at least.

i hope for all sorts of new stuff like this from now on

Yes! The only 1 game I have has turned out to offer so much replay and extra values.I always did like Coke better than Pepsi...

These courses and addons are free, so I have no reason to complain about them. I believe that getting some more tracks and better vehicles in this game in exchange for seeing a few logos on the screen is a fair trade.

ps. If sony or other game manufacturers are reading this, I would like to request that features for downloading (and hopefully creating) addons be implemented in future psp games, I am waiting for an rpg or 3d shooting game that has downloadable levels and items (that is not over 10 years old) to become available for the psp in canada.

Red Bull was in the original WipEout, before it was even in stores! I remember thinking it was a made-up 'beverage of the future' LOL!

2097 Was peppered with RedBull advertising and it was one of the best games to grace the PSX during it's hayday. The Game mechanics where that good, they've been implemented again in pure, and too see more advertising takes me back. Lol, gotta love nostalga.

for any other game I would probably take a polar point of view mind. :P

Yea, it would be awsome if they realeased a level/ship creation program or something so that we could make our own levels and share them worldwide. That would be interesting...

The recent Classic2 updates seem to be a lot better than the Gamma Packs. I recommend you try them.
