Circuit City testing sales of used games

Circuit City is now testing used game sales... - Image 1Lazard Capital Markets, a New-York-based investment bank, sent out an investor note saying that Circuit City is holding a trial run to see how effectively they can sell used games at select stores and on circuitcity.com.

Circuit City isn't offering that many used games (the so-called "pre-owned games"):
  • 15 titles for the PS2 including the Guitar Hero II bundle (74.99 US dollars) and Lego Star Wars II (17.99 US dollars)
  • 12 titles for Xbox 360
  • 7 titles for PSP
  • 6 titles for Xbox
A Lazard analyst said that this move by Circuit City should not be a threat to GameStop, the leader in selling pre-owned games. Best Buy has tried to sell used games, but it wasn't as successful as GameStop (by the way, we earlier reported that GameStop has split its stocks in an effort to attract potential investors).

According to Lazard, used game products bring in about $1 billion in sales in North America each year. Getting in the used games business requires people who are good at evaluating used games and a dedicated inventory system.

In other news, Circuit City is offering a Halo faceplate deal.

I dont get it, dont you sell used games in Usa? :s

"they are testing selling used games" sounds like you've never sold used games in Usa.

we've been selling used games in stores in Sweden for ages.

Here's a tip to start you off right, Circuit City: if anybody comes in to trade in a game without the case and manual, tell them to take a hike and don't come back.

Gamestop/EB sucks because those dip*****s never phased out the policy of accepting trade-ins without cases and manuals. If you're going to pricegouge the ***** out of a used game, at least give me the case and manual...and maybe a complementary jar of vaseline to sooth my anus after getting raped at the cash register.

This article specifically talks about Circuit City, who have never sold used games before. Did you even read the article?
