Chart Track UK Software Sales: Grand Theft Auto IV still on top - Image 1Now on its second week out, Grand Theft Auto 4 still dominates the charts in the UK. Not only that, but it's managed to keep its place on top despite a massive 77% drop in sales.

The latest update also seems to give weight to Microsoft's claim that the Xbox 360 version is more popular than the PlayStation 3 one. According to Chart Track, the 360 version accounted for 62% of sales last week, compared to its 55% margin the previous week.

The list is still dominated by the major players: mostly games from Nintendo, and of course, the never-dying Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Here are the top ten games in the UK for the week ending on May 10:
  1. GTA IV
  2. Wii Fit
  3. Wii Play
  4. Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games
  5. Iron Man
  6. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  7. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
  8. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
  9. Mario Kart Wii
  10. Dr KawashimaÂ’s Brain Training

I can't believe how bad games like "Iron Man" and "Mario & Sonic: Olimpics" sell better than GT5 Prologue and "Mario Kart Wii".

I think that's because the prologue is just an expensive overhyped demo. People don't want to pay e40,- for it I quess. And also I don't think these numbers account for psn store sales.

» Bad games?

Mario and Sonic is highly rated; the official Nintendo mag gave it something around 90%, much lke the likes of ign, gamespot etc.

The price is ok. Why you ask? Because you don't have to pay the full price for the finished game. You get a discount for the full version.

» yes, bad games

The official Nintendo mag is probably the only one to give Mario and Sonic a decent rating. Gamespot gave it a 6.0.

My mistake about the Gamespot (6.0) and IGN (7.9) scores. The average score from internet reviewers is approximately 7.2; so now it's your mistake; no, not bad games.

So what if Gamespot gave it a 6.0. What matters is a lot of people like the game. The fact that it is still number 4 on the UK list after a few months it has been released says that people still like the game.

People buying a game and people liking a game aren't always hand in hand.
