Capcom replies to Resident Evil PSP petition - Image 1

Petitions usually don't receive much attention from the side where the petition was addressed to, so news of one such petition catching a developer's attention is like a flying pigs moment. Earlier this month, we spread the word of a petition to Capcom that requested a Resident Evil game over UMD for the PlayStation Portable. And guess what? Capcom saw it and replied.

"As we plan for future games the team will definitely consider the fans and specifically your petition. It does have impact. Keep me updated on the number of signatures. If you get over 10,000 that will draw significant attention," said a representative from Capcom via email. The message was sent to the author of the petition.

As the petition stands, it's currently up to a fifth of the quota required to attract huge attention. And anyone who still hasn't signed yet but wishes to should head over to the petition site over the Read link below. There's a chance to actually make a difference here, so be a gamer and jot down that John Hancock.

Many thanks to hunter_alien for the tip!

» LMAO

Errr no, Shadownoob. The game was spectacular, and if you were old enough to comprehend the game at its place in time, it was a masterpiece without a doubt. Japanese RPGs would have died off if it wasn't for FF7's release. For its time, the graphics were unbelievable, the CG was superb, the maturity level in RPGs was raised due to FF7's content, and the story was anything short of bad ass. BTW, FFVIII sucked ass.

by Spectre - 2007-08-24 06:23
» mmmm

No...quit whining. FF7 is a masterpiece in its current state. Remakes never live up the the original...just take a look at MGS: Twin Snakes, CS: Source, FF1, FF2, FF3, etc. Besides new Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts games, Square Enix doesn't produce AAA games or remakes that are critically and commercially successful.

by brunobelo - 2007-08-24 06:51
» Stupid petition

I signed, just for help, but WHY THE HELL anyone would want to play RE1 on an UMD wehn we can play it on the MStick?

And why not make a petition to Capcom releases Resident Evil - Code Veronica for the PSP. It's one of the best RE games... I think that RE4 would be interesting too.

by Chemeco - 2007-08-24 07:29
» Petition

I am surprised!, great idea, let's also start a petition for one console for the 8th generation, and let's end the console war and buying different machines for different tittles!!!

by Juan - 2007-08-24 07:40
» Um

I don't think people are asking for a remake to be released on the PSP. I personally want an original RE to be released, hopefully in the play style of RE4 or any of the others actually....except for Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii.

Went from 2k yesterday when I signed it up to 9160 already? I think we'll get the 840 left easy and the more we get the more Capcom will know how much we want the game and will be all the more convinced to make it.

by Gene - 2007-08-24 12:32
» OVER 9000!

we only need a few more signatures and Capcom will hopefully consider RE on psp!

by chris - 2007-08-24 13:38
» wooo

almost 9500 now, it should catch capcom's eyes that so many people signed in such a short time. it'd be nice to have a psp release b4 5 comes out to kinda tide us over till then. Nintendo got a couple crappy RE games, GBC had that horrible whatever the eff it was, and DS just had a quick, non graphically enhanced version of RE1 with some pen action. Capcom needs to release a totally new side story PSP game to show Nintendo what power Sony really has in it's system.

Bring RE back home to sony!!

As much as I agree that 7 was a great game, I think you're doubly stupid for *****ing out Shadownet and then making a total ass out of yourself saying 8 "sucked ass." Looks like you're the one jumping bandwagons. 8 was great, so was 7. If you don't agree then you simply don't understand.

i want RE game on psp but i hate RE4 controls.

i pretty much liked the controls on re1/2/3.

but hey a new and better control scheme would be nice, a gears of wars type maybe?

the new silent hill for psp is very cool and i will definitely be getting that.

by VSG - 2007-08-24 17:07
» yeah dude

final fantasy 7 is one of the greatest game of all time. it was supposed to be on the nintendo 64, imagine if that happened, nintendo would have been king of the rpg's, but no the n64 disk drive is so messed up it cannot contain the 3-4 cd disk of final fantasy hence they opt for ps1. thus the fall of nintendo on late 90's.

ff8 and ff9 where improvements over ff7, if not for ff7 the latter games would not be that great.

and i disagree, ff7 is a million way better than ff6.

the ff series is a good succession of great rpg's.

by YAMI ANUBIS X - 2007-08-24 18:50
» You may hate me for this but

The best Resident Evil with great scary factor was Resident Evil Rebirth for the gamecube, best remake ever and very scary and had alot of atmosphere in it compared to Code Veronica. CV just isnt as great as RE Rebirth. Its also a Gamecube exclusive but sometimes Capcom cheats and ports games that were exclusive to Nintendo to Sony platforms like RE4.

» final fantasy 7

Final fantasy 7 was my favorite final fantasy, it was probably the best. But you all need to calm down, yes shadownet ff7 IS overplayed, but because it was pretty damn good. Spectre, first of all what is that name, second you are the reason people who hate overplayed games never played ff7 and still manage to hate it. also you have no right to yell about how ff8 "sucked ass" while your complaining about somebody not liking ff7, theyre just games its the players own personal opinion as to what they like and dislike, unless your talking about ff10 lol. lunisneko, name again. but thank you. VSG, N64 failed, really? I seem to remember everybody i know pretty much having and LOVING their N64s, even your general claim of a lack of rpgs makes no sense to me. You seriously cant remember Zelda? This is definately a matter of opinion and perhaps some would disagree with me, but, Ill admit it. I loved paper mario. And lastly why must we all forgot. were talking about resident evil here. go to a crisis core page or something. its not like there arent dozens of them.

@Spectre

MGS: Twin Snakes is a great remake, I love it a thousand times more than the original, and it's basically a direct pull from the source content of the original, something I truly appreciate. I would LOVE if the same was done for FF7, same story, same progression, just updated graphics, maybe character voices. Hell, I don't even care if they update the music, the original musical score ruled all. But I'd gladly sign on to have it remade with updated style.
