Capcom posts fiscal year results for 2007 |
Ó
Capcom's full 2007 financial reports have hit the press waves to reassure investors of the company's state of affairs - specifically with money - and it comes with full confidence that the game developer's pace last year increased by incremental folds.
Fiscal year 2006's net sales amounted to JPY 74.54 billion (US$ 724.54 million), but for 2007, it grew to as much as JPY 83.1 billion (US$ 807.61 million).
More than 50% of those net sales would be driven by Capcom's video game sales, which amounted to JPY 51.68 billion (US$ 502.28 million) by March 31, 2008. That, however, didn't increase their net income, as from JPY 7.8 billion (US$ 75.79 million) in 2006, the figures dipped to JPY 5.8 billion (US$ 56.36 million).
But the company's increased sales for last year gave them reason to predict optimistic numbers for FY 2009. They hope to net JPY 95.3 billion (US$ 925.99 million) in net sales and push their income to a high of JPY 8.6 billion (US$ 83.53 million).
Capcom also noted that the success of Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, as well as the equally fun Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, managed to expand the fan base of the Resident Evil series - and not just to the West, but also to the non-gaming populace that the Nintendo Wii was hauling in.
Other franchises such as Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G and Devil May Cry 4 (PlayStation 3, Windows, Xbox 360) also helped rake in the money for the game company, though (take note) its arcade gaming operations didn't perform as great as its console operation has.
This may be a point to consider for Street Fighter 4, as its unannounced release platforms currently keeps it an arcade exclusive for now. Capcom says that the arcade division has been sluggish as of late due to the increase of console acquisition in homes, so it's possible (even likely) that Street Fighter 4 will soon be announced on consoles.
It's only a matter of when. And until that time comes, we'll keep you updated.
