Resident Evil - Image 1After Sony awarded Capcom with their very own section in the PlayStation Network, Capcom's been in a bit of a mad dash to get some content up on the Capcom Store.

Already, we hear that they're going to have a Classics lineup to release as DLC. This will cover some PlayStation games from Capcom. (If you remember from yesterday, SF Alpha 2 and 3 were already listed by the ESRB!) But what other titles can we expect?

In an "Ask Capcom" thread in Capcom's own website, Corporate Officer and VP of business development Christian Svensson revealed quite a few interesting details about their plans for the Capcom PSN Store.

Firstly, he said that they're aiming to deliver some choice PSP titles as DLC on the Store (kinda like what D3Publisher is doing). The only thing confirmed right now though is a demo of Harvey Birdman. More interestingly, Svensson reveals that they're going to have some new (i.e. unannounced) content up on the Store come 2009.

On the subject of their PlayStation Classics lineup, someone asked if they'll finally release Resident Evil over the PSN. After all, Japan's already got RE2 online. Here's Svensson's reply:

We have a lot of work to do on the PS1 side of things still. I hope to bump that up the priority list of "things to do" after HD Remix is out the door. There's a lot of internal issues to work out to get that rolling properly.

Ok, Capcom. I'm crossing my fingers! Make it happen! Make it happen! If we're never getting a new Resident Evil title exclusive to the PSP, then having the three PSone RE games would still make me a happy camper.

» OMG

I hope the PSOne Resident Evil series, Dino Crisis Series and Megaman Legends series make it to the PSN!

Maybe this will motivate other developers, such as Square-Enix or Konami to give us some PSOne love?

Please let it be true....

» Capcom No Love for PSP

Personally i still don't see why Capcom haven't announced either DMC or RE for PSP! They are Capcoms two biggest franchises and it's not like the PSP can't handle good quality games! Just take a look at all of Square-Enix's new titles for PSP. Also there wouldn't be a problem with control scheme even RE4's control scheme would work on a PSP, there might be a problem with DMC since it uses the right stick, but

Seriously Capcom give the PSP some love!!

» Yeah

I totally agree with you.

It would be so darned awesome if Capcom gave us a DMC or New Resident Evil for the PSP.

However, I believe the low sales of their other games, like Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, or Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max might've given them a reason to be so iffy about further titles.

Then again, considering the success of Monster Hunter in japan, now's a great time to reconsider giving us some new PSP Exclusives...

Megaman Legends already got their PSP ports on UMD in Japan, years ago.

I don't see this working on the PSP, as it misses well, a second analogue stick. And R2 and R1 buttons.

Without these, the first MML will be even more tedious to play through. Let's be honest, it had pretty bad controls, especially compared to the second one, which was just, perfect.

Aside from MML, ps3 only, I would like to see MMX.

Maybe even MMX9 ? With MMX4 graphics, anyone ?

This would blow my mind. As MMX4 is one of my favourite games.
