Can Video games Really help Lazy Eye? |
Listed in: Tags:
The condition called amblyopia or Lazy Eye is when one eye works better than the other. Your brain decides to use your good eye so over time the neural connection to the bad eye becomes weaker. The way this condition is currently treated is the patient has to wear a patch over their good eye for 400 hours forcing the bad eye to work. The only problem is that this can cause the eye not to work together.
According to a study done by researchers at Nottingham University they believe that video games do help. They are using virtual reality treatment which encourages the lazy eye to become more active plus it helps your eyes work better together. Some of the games being used are racing games (not to sure which ones) where the computer sends images of the players own car to the amblyopic eye but the other cars go to the good eye. They are finding that in 1 hours of playing the game they get the same results as wearing the patch for 400 hours without the double vision from the eyes not working together.
Not only will you be albe to get better treatment for you eyes you can have fun doing it.

Hrmm, kinda like when $ony patches the PSP firmware it can cause it not to work altogether too.
What a great way to treat it though, I wonder if there is some 3d type exploit the could do by sending only partial data to each eye (wrather than the old red/blue offsetting thing in old movies and comics)

Also, don't let other people's grammar affect you, it really dosen't matter and is a waste of time to worry about educating them. (really, think about it.)

also, isn't it nice to be informed of what's going on in videogames? go find a ps3-news-only site and feel your eyeballs melt as the news pours in faster than you can press page down... it's worth having this rubbish while news is slow.
when the ps3 thing reallly kicks off we'll get some good stuff. until e3 be patient.

Also if news is slow then DONT POST! Seriously why not just post the what you had for dinner as well. "PS3 NEWS" How the F*ck can you guys justify non-playstation related news, with "isn't it nice to be informed of what's going on in videogames?" Yeah it is, but I go to othersites for that. And honestly who gives a rats f*cking ass about "videogames can treat lazyeye" or "Videogames can treat ADD" So *****ing what how is that relevent to gaming? post that on some BS medical site.
To conclude, ahem, DONT POST NEWS NOT RELATED TO PS3 ON THE GODDDDDDDAAAAAM MMMNNNN PS3 SITE! JESUS CHRIST!!!! Also, I will never come back to this sh*ty page because it has gone so severly downhill. Have fun with this tripe! Later ***** ers!

Couldn't really notice the 3-d too well except on the guns and bullets, but I did notice when I could tell my eye/brain was deciphering it and most of the time it wasen't.
It's for sure not a cure, and it's very slowly getting worse, but it can't hurt. And like mentioned, I'm having fun in the process.
