Ubisoft announced today that Tom Clancy's EndWar will also be dropping on the DS and PSP platforms sometime in the future. No confirmed release windows yet for both handheld versions, but for now, we get a quick peek at some of its features.

Instead of having the same team who did the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of EndWar, Ubisoft's given developing rights to the Funatics studio for the handheld game. As you may guess, gameplay will be different from its console-cousins. For one, the DS gets stylus-input.

EndWar on the PSP and DS will not be using the same RTS engine that the PS3 and 360 version uses. Instead, the handheld spin-offs will be more of turn-based strategy, complete with "move" and "execute" phases. Sorry, no voice commands are supported.

There are 30 campaigns included in the game, and if that doesn't satisfy you enough, you can even create your own missions and share them with a friend. Each faction in the game will be composed of some 20 units, dispersed among ground, air, or naval.

I dunno why turn based. The DS and PSP need some good C+C style RTS games.

I like the fact that it will be turn based. I have never been a big fan of RTS games. The only one I have liked is Star Wars: Empire at War. Mainly becuse where not forced to play just the story mode. You had a mode that was like Master of Orion. Where you could go where you wanted to, not just the way the story told you to go.

Plus you can make your own missions. This will be fun

im not a big fan of turn based games, but i guess, given the circumstances, they couldnt make a good first person shooter for the psp very easily... yeah there are some good ones like socom, but... i don't know. i would prefer a fps over strategy, but without the second joystick for looking around, fps games get pretty hard... might as well just get the 360 one instead...
