Bethesda Speaks on PS3, PSP Oblivion Rumor

Ó

Oblivion for the PS3We earlier reported on the availability of what looks like the PS3 and PSP version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion at EBGames. Apparently, EBGames isn't the only one posting the same product -- GameStop also listed the same thing. We mentioned in that article that until nothing official comes out from Bethesda, then the product pages could be subject to change and could be considered as your usual rumor.

Well now, someone from Bethesda has already spoken about it. According to Bethesda representative Pete Hines those product pages are "hogwash" and that these product pages are "just assumptions". He also reiterated that there are "no announced plans for any other version right now."

Whether this is the truth or an attempt to cover up the game's development trails, is something we could only speculate about. For now, we have no choice but to take his official word as the answer to that gossip. Only time would tell, I guess.

Thanks Harblurger for the tip!

ebgames and gamestop are owned by the same people, check your sources before you post a newspost! aren't you guys supposed to be accurate? you listened to one little fool and then posted on it, when you didn't check with many others..

# eb and gamestop suckGuest 2006-07-26 03:07
Eb and gamestop constasntly have bad info. Their release dates are usually off, they usually give me the wrong answer if i ask about a jap game coming to the US.

If you actually take anything they say seriously, its your fault for being so dumb.....

I'd like to take a moment to say "in your *****ing face, qj." as per my last reply to your previous post, see below.

24. ยป idiots.

way to go QJ, showing ignorance again. in the more than decade i've been following gaming scenes, i've seen EBGAMES and GAMESTOP references listed as news posts... 99 times out of 100, it's just a mistake... possibly closer to 999 times of 1000. but then again, these are the types of reputable news sources QJ would post. if i posted a video of a playstation emulator they'd probably post that on the front page... oh wait! they already have! twice!

why not just say "no plans" that statement just adds fuel to the fire

Ugh, if they have said over and over THAT THERE IS NO OTHER VERSION PLANNED AT THE MOMENT... then I dunno, maybe you should believe them?!?!?

Jesus man, first people speculate, then speculate more and spread rumours, and when it's denied, people claim it could be a 'cover up', sheez.

They'd be better off porting Morrowind or even Daggerfall to the PSP instead. Much better games than Oblivion.

# yeah right..Guest 2006-07-26 04:40
this is bulls**t. They'll have to wait for sony to make the announcement first. oblivion is coming to PS3, like gears of war next year too, like UT2007 for xbox360 etc....

Out of topic but still interesting, i found on a asian site that sony is planning something really big for TGS. ( i try to find out but nothing ...) There's lots of secrets. IT's not only for the machine but for games too.

# Morrowind?Guest 2006-07-26 04:51
They should release morrowind for the PSP....even though it's really freaking old, I'd still play it....again...if that meant taking it everywhere i went on a handheld. The game fits on one CD...then again this is a very ignorant perspective on porting, but it doesn't look like it would be be that much of a problem porting Morrowind for the PSP (Minus the whole licensing part)

#10 gears of war will never come to the ps3. it's a microsoft published game. where would you get an idea like that?

So what happens if someone decides they want to pre-order the ps3 version of oblivion, then what would gamestop do?

They will keep your money, buy crack, and file for bankruptcy.

Gamestop bought EBGames, so yeah they will have the same website. So no shock there. Good news none the less.

Pre-order SKU for oblivion PS3 = it's official {only speaking as ex-gamestop employee}

This reminds me of the Assasins creed rumours in reverse. Now the same XBox fanboys that say AC will go to X360 are denying the same arguments from Sony fanboys about this. LOL.

deja vu, why? someone else mention the same thing when another post listed that ebgames, and gamestop pricing rise at the same time. by the way, about the game, no thanks.

Oh god, you can already tell the PS3 Oblivion is true.

"no announced plans for any other version right now."

Plus, on the elder scrolls site it says Oblivion is for "PC & Next Gen Consoles" or something to that effect.

As for the PSP, doubtful.

Probably gonna have a spin-off like Redguard or Travels.
