Beaterator used in NY public school music classes

The admin folks of the New York Public Schools must have been inspired by the amazing PS22 Choir, but to leave music education to a video game? That's right, and it's not just any other music video game. It's Timbaland's Beaterator taking on sub duties for these public schools. Hey, if you want street cred, that's it right there.

I be teachin' your kids

Not, this is not a prank. They really do teach their students music using Beaterator. And they even have the complete DJ studio, headphones, boards, PSP and all to pull it off. Kiva, DubSpot music instructor, says of this new method of teaching: "They're able to learn music theory in a different format... it's the same information, just a different way of presenting it."

And what do you know, experts agree that it's a good way of providing outlets for students' creativity. Finally, a news about video games being used out in real society that does not involve casualties. See, these games do have its purposes.

with music they probably mean *****ty rapstyle bs.

that's music in it's weakest form imo. try listening to the complexity of dream theater or rush. (too bad for most people it sounds so rough.)

that said, rap music is easy to listen to and very accessible.

The game/app has as much rap sampling as it does electro, top 40 rock and dubstep (not progressive rock music which would be ridiculously difficult to sequence, mind you, so that argument is null and void)
