Logo of British Academy of Film and Television Arts - Image 1It seems like the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Video Games Awards will be taking a break this year in order to facilitate a more effective judging process. In a recent article released by GamesIndustry.biz, it was announced that the British group will resume its regular award ceremonies by 2009.

Last year saw various difficulties with the panel of judges and the various unreleased titles which were included in the awards. There was even a case of one game in the running which in the end never even got a 2007 release. The delay will aim to resolve similar issues from happening again in future events.

Last year saw several notable titles like BioShock, Wii Sports, and Crackdown take the top spots at the event. Hopefully, next year will build up even more amazing titles once the prestigious award ceremonies continue. The next BAFTA Video Games Awards will resume once again on March 10, 2009.
