AOU 2007: the Silent Hill arcade game |
Ó
We've already reported to you folks the other day about the Fighter of the Century tournament for Virtua Fighter 5 during the annual AOU exhibition at Japan. Well, here's more from the event.
Proving that the world of coin-op isn't dead – or lost in the mist, Japanese news site GAME Watch reports that the people from Konami gave their Silent Hill light-gun game a debut at the AOU Arcade Game Exhibition 2007. The game's entitled Silent Hill: The Arcade, and players can choose to be either Eric or Tina (the two lead characters), and they step into the foggy other-world that is Silent Hill, where in you have to fend off undead nurses, creepy babies, and even good old Pyramid Head.
The gun holds ten shots and shooting off-screen reloads. The red button in the panel has to be pressed at the right moment to progress in the game.
A semi-zombie shooter set in the world of Silent Hill? Will it work? Is it even in tune with the more psychological style of (shock/creep) horror that Silent Hill is known for? What do you guys think?

why dont they make a virtual fighter for the psp?
if you have any skills in graphical design, flash, C++, python, visual basic, anything with computers. IM me at George Reno 40 I'll help you get started with making loads of money (I made 50 dollars by creating a connect the dots flash, ill show you a screenshot too.)
what the hell does this have to do with psp? too many news articles that are unrelated to the psp are starting to pop up!
Just think how cool it would be to have a air gun and play this game on the PS3. This way you would not have to use the controller just the gun.
This would also bring out old classics ways just like Sega and Nintendo had guns you could buy to use for the game system. So adding this to the next Gen systems would be great.
As long as this comes out on either the PS3 or 360. I could buy it because I have both thoughs systems.
Man do I wish the arcade I go to would get this! But for now, I've got to wait till they get Time Crisis 5 back....
it looks like house of the dead. im wondering if this game have alternate endings...
I want a port of this game!
sweet!! please bring this to the PS3 with a light gun!!!! that would be rocking!!!
but it seems like a ripoff of house of the dead.
anyways i like silent hill so i may as well play this when it comes out.
I don't think Silent Hill would make a good arcade game. It couldn't have the great storytelling the series is known for. Making an arcade action game out of it kind of cheapens it.
it's already out, it's called LCD topgun, first gun to work on the computers, xbox, ps2, ps3, any other. It works on hdtv, crt, everything. But it's not selling anymore, something happen with the company. Some stores may have it in stock play-asia.com does.
I love Silent Hill but the game doesn't look that good.
Might be fun but it can't be that creepy or have a good atmosphere, which Silent Hill is known for, in a noisy and fairly lit arcade. Also it looks really blurry.
However, I'd still play it once if I saw it at my arcade just to play a Silent Hill game. Maybe that's Konami's angle.
