Another PSP dev kit spotted on eBay |
Ó
The seller says that it already comes with everything you need to get it up and running, including a PSP test unit that has one dead pixel. No mention of how the seller got his hands on this thing since as far as I know, Sony just licenses dev kits to game developers.
The current bid is just US$ 222.50 with the bidding ending on March 16. Let's see if someone manages to buy this before Sony gets it taken down as well.
Thanks to deyanimay for the tip!

I want it. Don't know what I'd do with it. But I want it.
the bid is already at 700
Just imagine the homebrew we could have with the official SDK. I'd happily chip in some money if the right group of developers used it.
Instead of wasting time trying to reverse the firmware why dont we just hack into http://www.snsys.com/psp/proview.asp and get the psp sdk
Can someone please explain what this is?
What this does?
What this can do to the fullest extent?
Why Sony wants it removed?
lol gotta love Sony's antics.
Even though it is at 700$ the reserve has still not been met yet.
lets u make homebrew that can run on any psp modded or not
gotta get DA this...
This won't help anyone to do anything useful. Sony are not fools. They are the ones who do the signing of the application. People who think this machine would help them having homebrews running on official firmwares are wrong.
The same goes for people suggesting to get a copy of the official SDK. It wouldn't do anything. The official SDK probably allows you to create EBOOTS that run on test PSPs only. Then once the game is complete, sony signs it and distribute it.
It's just going to get taken down just like the last one.
What you said is not entirely true at all. If you look up the Virtools development suite, they have the capability of loading up the PSP SDK supplied from Sony using a site license. Getting the official PSP development SDK does the exact same thing. The programming language passes commands to dll files that contain the actual hard instructions which then pass to the PSP. If you compile out the code into an eboot, then you are running actual signed code to the kernel. You can actually look up a video on youtube of virtools showing the development of a 3D game for the PSP. It doesn't require a test unit. As long as you get an SDK that is recent, then the code that runs will be signed. Obviously, distributing games or code without first getting rights from Sony would violate licensing terms. Duh. You have noticed that you can download demos to the portable, instead of all media coming from UMD's, right?
Encrypting and digital signing is still done at Sony HQ. This will not allow you to make homebrew that works on official firmware.
Virtools works because the virtools player is signed by Sony. The player is the EBOOT equivalent, which then proceeds to load your content which doesn't need to be signed.
w00t already 1.00
i mean $811 lol
another hope to be wasted be sony >_<
idk if dax got his hands on this what will happen but i hope this will solve the damn pre-ip thing or at least help solving it, im not coder and idk anything about coding but im sure i will help if the subject needed a donations ^_^
already $1,400.00....
I checked the Ebay listing and it says this is only a test unit and not a dev unit, i don't fully understand these but i think this just allows games to be tested and possibly debugged, just more like a pc emulator than anything else. So is probably useless for hacking purposes.
back down to $898.88???
who wants 2 pay $1,000 dollars?
