Voting for the 2008 BAFTA awards is underway! And which of the games released in 2008 made it to their shortlist of candidates for the awards? Well, quite a lot of them! The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has recognized a whole slew of games, with various categories for its many nominees.

There's a category for each genre of game (ex. Best Action-Adventure, Best Casual Game, etc.), as well as others to recognize artistry (ex. Best Story, Best Artistic Achievement, etc.) and technology (ex. Best Use of Audio, Best Technical Achievement, etc.). The newest category this year is the Best Handheld Game Award.

They'll be judging for themselves which games are to be awarded for these various sub-categories, but the one major category which they're turning to the audience for is the coveted Game of the Year award. The candidates have now been revealed, and you can vote for the following through the Via link below.
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

» ugh.

your not gonna put GH world tour in there and not MGS4...world tour is garbage, and im a way bigger fan of guitar hero than rock band.

» That sucks

I'm a huge Xbox fan and I would've voted for MGS4 too, probably the best game so far this gen

Out of those they have up there my GOTY is my Fallout 3, with GTA IV a close second

Also I'm assuming someone made a mistake by listing COD4 instead of World at War? COD4 didn't release in 2008

» LBP

Out of the top list the only games I truly enjoyed were GTAIV and LittleBigPlanet and I'd have to say LBP is definitely my favorite game of 2008. Lots of fun, feels 'old school' yet completely modern at same time, unique and there are always new levels to play and it's just a massively addictive game. Also LBP and Burnout Paradise are easily my favorite multiplayer games of the current gen consoles.

I have to admit even though I do like Metal Gear games, number 4 didn't interest me as much as I'd hoped. It's good but it didn't spend anywhere near as much time in my PS3's disc drive as most of my other games.
