Accio! Harry Potter UMD movie boxset available at Amazon |
Ó
This collection is only available in Europe, however, and are region coded for video. So if you'd like to get this and you have a Region 1 North American PSP, sorry, but it's not gonna play on your unit. Japanese PSPs can also play them too, however.
Sounds like a cool collectible. It could be a good idea to pick up the set and play a Harry Potter marathon first before you head out to the cinemas for film #6. You can get it for UK£ 29.98 (about US$ 50).
The video game version of HP and the Half-Blood Prince (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PS2, Wii, DS, and PC) is also now available in retail.

If anyone decides to get it just let us know here so we can have a laugh at the rank stupidity of buying UMD movies, i mean you could get the full set on dvd for £20 then buy a 4gb memory stick for £10 and recode them on there.
Some of us like umd movies you daft idiot 5 movies take a lot of space on a memstick and time to encode
there is nothing wrong with UMD movies. excellent quality. such a small screen makes it look DVD quality. sony should keep the UMD movies going, i for one like 'em
Only has to be encoded once and a dvd can be used anywhere, but i guess some people are happy to pay for a video twice, i have no problem with a umd as a game because it's good to have a hard copy but put a film on there and it's a very different story.
Yes, the DVD is more versatile, and everyone knows the advantages of encoding. Yes, the UMD format for movies is either dead or dying. Those two points still don't change the fact that having a hard copy is still a nice alternative to encoding movies onto memory sticks. It's all common knowledge, so it's somewhat unnecessary to continue talking about these things these days unless someone specifically asks about it. My only problem that kept me from getting onto the UMD video bandwagon, or even PSP video in general, was that I didn't really feel like watching full movies on the go. I'd watch a tv show, but watching a movie in bits short pieces at a time doesn't sit well with me. I know others can do that, so yea, It's more suited for them I guess.
This is really nice! imma get those right away :) i know a lot of people dont like UMD's but i love em, great quality video, and a solid screen on a PSP? perfect, i hope more UMD's will be released!
UMD is actually surprisingly useful if you have a small memory stick. Even 4 GB falls under that category.
I am surprised they did this... Or more I am annoyed that they ahd the gall do do it to the first five... we all know if this is successful they will do it again with the full 7 set (or 8 with the last book being 2 movies) In other words, it's like if you bought the special editions of all of the lord of the rings... then the box set came out and you felt ripped off. Which happened to me... and yes I bought the box set too... shut up :( I guess it's great marketing (disregarding the dead format... sales wise) but a box set that is missing the last 3 movies... that's just mean to your consumers. Because they KNOW they will buy the set. and they KNOW they will buy the FULL set later too. Whatever.. Ima go with the rip and convert method myself, I take horrible care of my hard copies.
