140 Marvel characters unite in Ultimate Alliance

With 140 characters from Marvel's comic library, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will feature the largest roster of comic book characters ever seen in a video game. More than 20 of them will be the player-controllable Super Heroes, ranging from Spider-Man, Wolverine and Blade to Captain America.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will be an Action/RPG hybrid in the same vein as the X-Men games, "where players’ actions and choices ultimately determine what happens to the Marvel universe”. Developed by Raven Software, makers of the highly regarded Jedi Knight series, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will contain an unique storyline that is impacted by the player's choices and actions. A solid multiplayer mode will round out the overall experience, enabling cooperative play on- as well as offline.

The title will be released in fall on all available consoles. To reflect this, three new, different screenshots have been put up: One for the PSP, one for next-gen systems and one for current-gen systems.

Looks cool...

But I was more excited when I read it first and it looked like there were 140 playable characters.

That would be extreme, yes, but 20 isn't all that many. A few more than the X-men Legends games which sounds like this is an evolution of. Still, those games rocked.

hmm

the console version looks nice but the psp version looks kinda cheap, with the tiny pixelated heroes and all... marvel nemesis was an excellent conversion to the psp, though!

I'm looking forward to this one

looks cool

I don't know what you are all complaining about. of the 120 characters you could only control one at a time and with multiplayer that puts the total to four. If you hooked some systems together a bit more but the point is one person plays as one character. Besides, everyone would just find the couple characters they like and not play as the rest; sometimes less is more.

I am actually pretty excited. The screens don't give a whole lot but I'm a super hero fan and I would love to give it a shot.

Wow...

"Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will be an Action/RPG hybrid in the same vein as the X-Men games, "where players’ actions and choices ultimately determine what happens to the Marvel universe”...

... and it will more than likely fail miserably. I know that Xmen Legends 2 was the answer to everyone's prayers, but I'm personally getting sick of mediocre yearly releases of tired franchises. Kill them all and start over with something new.
